Interesting thread....
....I don't specifically ask for permission,but just say that I am thinking of....that way Mr CO can say 'hmm,ok'...or 'hmm,I was planning xyx,what about next week'.Usually,I know our social diary,so don't visit my parents then,but lunches or outings with girlfriends are during the day,so he's not bothered.
Funny thing...when I visited my MIL in Lahore, my mum told me to ask her permission when I went anywhere...so I did,and I think she appreciated it.
A friend,whose daughter was getting married,invited this lady over to do a lecture on a wife's duties and such.Anyways,she aslo went on about how you should not invite anyone over from your own family without asking permission first,to the extent of not even answering the door if they have the audacity of turning up uninvited.It is your husbands house and as such he is lord.
