On the other hand, Rana is being allowed to go and play. More dispensable I guess

KARACHI (Reuters) - The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to allow pace bowlers Mohammad Asif and Umar Gul to accept contracts with English counties this year, an official said on Wednesday.
“The bowlers have faced fitness problems and it hit the performance of the team. For the moment we have told them not to accept any contracts,” Zakir Khan, director of cricket operations, told Reuters.
Gul, 24, had a contract offer from Gloucestershire while Asif, who missed the World Cup with an elbow injury, had previously played for Leicestershire.
Zakir said a decision on allowing other players to appear for English county sides had not been taken as yet.
Younis Khan is signed up to play for Yorkshire while leg-spinner Danish Kaneria is due to play for Essex.
“The board is in the process of finalising a comprehensive international and domestic programme after the World Cup. We want all our pacers fit and available,” Zakir said.
Pakistan were knocked out of the World Cup in the first round after losing to West Indies and Ireland.

yeah as long as the quality of cricket and wickets is same or better than county wickets, it's a sane decision but I do not have trust/high expectations on PCB anymore.

what is the logic behind NOT developing pitches that support fast bowlers

Rana can bowl anywhere for all I care. He's not test class and way too expensive in ODIs. He should not play another international game for Pakistan ever again - period

^ Well I also hope Rana never plays for Pakistan again- simply because he is crap especially at test level. However, what chance is there that he will never play for Pakistan again?

Rana's international career might be over already unless he performs a miracle or something. Tough luck for poor chap but then again he has been given many a chances. This is a potential oppertunity for a youngster to make way in the team.

Even Rana can be lethal, if coached, and used properly. The issue is not the players like Rana. The issue is our sucky board, its administration. They have been running with ppl boasting primate brains for a long time and it does not seem to be changing.
So as far as I am concerned, any one who proves themselves, can be considered. And then if they don't perform when given a chance then too bad.
So Rana Nai needs to reassess his career goals and PCB needs to get a LIFE. Period.

yeah okay
but if they are BORN as a batsmen on fast tracks .....
talk about the next generation ... if they get to play on fast pitches from day one, over the period of time they will develop the skills...
If you kill them right from the start by feeding them double tippay wali balls on slow tracks and spoil them.. then for sure they will be flat track bullies
