Asian clothes outside the home...yes..or no??

wat is it with guys n girls in shalwar kameez?? lol.. :p

Re: Asian clothes outside the home...yes..or no??

Hmmm.

I usually wear english clothes. If I find comfortable shalwar kameez then I'm not gonna hesitate in wearing them.

But for uni, it's usually skinnies/boyfriend jeans. However, I don't think anyone really makes it a big deal in UK...especially when people's priority at uni should be their education. If they do, how sad...clearly they haven't been educated about multiculturalism.

Re: Asian clothes outside the home...yes..or no??

^ Multiculturalism should not be used as an excuse for not allowing one to wear what one is prescribed by faith.

I have no problem with wearing any sort of clothes so long as they comply with Islam.

Hence at times as a man i have worn wierd and wonderfull attire from Lammelar armoured Shalwar kameez to clint eastwood style poncho over baggy jeans.

But i do not approve of those who decide to place faith aside to fit into a society.

Only becuase it's immodest, mind you not all gorras are like that either many dress sensibly actually or at least Allah ka shukkar round here they do... but then again this is middle England and closer to the countryside.... than to the city.

Re: Asian clothes outside the home…yes..or no??

yea we do.. course ur rite.. :mehr:

Re: Asian clothes outside the home...yes..or no??

Do what you feel comfortable with..

I personally wouldn't (just as I wouldn't wear jeans with a skimpy top outdoors in Pakistan)..

Re: Asian clothes outside the home...yes..or no??

I never wore them to class, but if I'm already wearing them, I don't change to run errands. I'm not bothered by being seen in shalwar kamiz.

I live in the US.

^Ditto. I don't wear shalwar kameez at home - I'm usually in yoga pants and a t-shirt. When I make plans to go shopping, I'm in western wear.

But, if I'm already in shalwar kameez because we've guests over or I'm going to a desi party, then I don't hesitate to wear shalwar kameez to run errands.

There are plenty of desis where I live.

Re: Asian clothes outside the home…yes..or no??

i occasionally do and i dont have any problems, just yesterday i was at a friends wedding and i had to pickup a bouquet so i go in to SOBEYS and trust me every single person in there looked at me as if i was some sorta freak but to be honest i liked dat attention

haha…i LOVE the honesty  [think deep down we’re all attention seekers :$]

Re: Asian clothes outside the home...yes..or no??

I personally wouldn't feel comfortable at my uni wearing shalwar kameez because of the fact that the ASIANS would look at me LOL...I don't think the white people would care as much as the asians would! Once at college my best friend wore a shalwar kameez and all the asians were in an uproad and the white people didn't even bat an eyelid! they couldn't care less! How bizarre!

But i do wear shalwar kameez if say i'm going down the road to tesco's but most of the time i'm in trackies/PJ's and mostly wear skinnies out. It's just what i'm comfortable in!

But if you've got the confidence to wear asian clothes..Then go for it! :)

Re: Asian clothes outside the home...yes..or no??

I don't wear shalwar kameez to school but other than that when at home I am usually wearing it......I also have no probelms wearing it out and about.......no one really says anything and I've noticed other asians usually have the most probelms with it, non-asians usually love it and give me compliments

Re: Asian clothes outside the home...yes..or no??

It's so true! It's usually the asians that seem to have the most problems!

:k::smiley:
