Actually Matthews fell down while taking a run and was run out so the umpires allotted SL half a run, hence the 26. 5 run victory. It is so cruel I was hoping for a 27 run victory but it was not to be, heart broken.

- Misbah-ul-Haq walked in to bat at what should be now an all too familiar situation for him. Pakistan were down three on 18 runs. He rebuilt the innings with Alam, adding 122 for the fourth wicket, before he got out to Malinga in an effort to capitalise on the Powerplay overs. He had scored 65 runs by then and yet again got out without getting to three figures.** This was his 37th ODI fifty and only the seventh time a Pakistan captain had scored a fifty in the final of an ODI series.**

Awesome Lankans... They deserved to win...honestly we did not bowl well throughout the tournament other than match against India...
Some horrible bowling selection as well...Playing match with 3 average fast bowlers on these tracks? I can just laugh at this strategy .... I mean what was our think tank thonking? Fast bowlers leaked 160 runs today in 21 overs ... never let the pressure develop. Gul shd not play ODIs... we need irfan. Talha is not impressive. Junaid is fine and needs to be retained. He has what it takes at this level
But hey we found fawad alam... amazing prospect Nazar na lagay marshallAh.. the guy averages 56 in the first class ...why was he out for 3 years?

Just speaking in generalities, at this level, you have to trust your lineup. Some days some players click. Other days, others do.
There is this mindset that if wickets fall quickly, you have to shut down and build. That would be a good strategy if conditions favor the howlers. Steep bounce, too much swing, nasty turning wicket etc.
Clearly that was not the case. The wickeet was not doing anything extraordinary. The outfield was fast, so runs leaking was a when, not an if condition.
So it made no sense to play dot balls just to stem the tide of wickets falling. With that negative approach, a team is guaranteed a loss.
To me Misbah and Dhoni are both negative captains. Tuk Tuk Tuk in the beginning. Then heroics at the end. When it works they are heroes. But these things have a way of catching up.
As for the 50, I would take a quickfire 49 over a sedate 50.

^ If you look at the batting lineup, there was no one except Akaml after Misbah & Fawad. Yes Afridi was there but I never want him to come out before 45/46 overs. U never know how many balls he will last. Misbah HAD to drop the anchor to stop the slide.
Anyway, the way we were winning the games (vs IND and BD), it was just the matter of time.
