Hello all guppies, I was just wondering have you guys seen that ad for skin care on desi channels. Ashe’s skin whitening cream. Someone I know is from India and has very dark pigmented skin and was asking me if I know anyone who has used the cream.
Let me know if any one of you know anything about this product line.
I know someone who works in the field and is in Houston where this Ashe-inventor is located.
This source of mine found out what the formula of the creme is:
Literally, its a mixture of 3 creams:
Fair and Lovely (yep, the one you get in Pakistan).
Stillman's cream - its an American product
Archie's cream - Chinese product - it has pearl shimmer in it.
The combination is supposed to really make your skin lighter, due to the potency of the bleaching and lightening effects of each cream.
My source also found out where in Karachi this lady is getting her supply of creams from. The store owner sold this source Fair and Lovely, and asked if she would like Archie's to go with it - as a joke.
Supposedly, many women in Houston are claiming wonders about it. Well, those that haven't heard the rumours being viciously spread by my jealous source. I swear, hairdressers - they are very catty people.
Mahru-- double check with someone please because I've heard that the combo mentioned above is carcinogenic in the long run (esp with UV rays -- ie: Pak)
You know, I wondered how this Ashe girl is getting away with this combination (if its indeed true) - for more legal reasons. Aren't you not permitted to just combine a few already existing products?
just a side, they (meaning people in Pakistan) have been combining a bunch of creams and bleaches and using it to get gora gora. apparently my cousins have used it and they are firm believers of that. i wonder what would happen by mixing just random creams like that.
Well back in the day when I used to look like a Klingon (Star Trek creatures with bumpy foreheards), I combined one acne cream with another and it did the trick. :k:
i actually did some research on this school project which was based on the skin lightening craze in asian countries (india and pakistan for example). and well..most skin lightening or bleaching creams..contain hydroquinone. atleast 2% of it is concentrated into the solution. stillmans contains that. hydroquinone has disfigured countless women in africa, parts of the middle east, and asia. hydroquinone is only meant for those people who have pigmentary problems..not those who just feel like lightening their skin..and cannot be used for more then 6 months at a time. tell ur friend that she shud just stick to the basics (eat right, take vitamins, exercise, and wear sunblock spf45 all the time!) if ashe contains stillmans..it contains hydroquinone. avoid it!
