Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
Aus 203/1
England able to break through but took too long see what the difference it makes when Simon Jones is not playing.

Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
More and more rain...this match will end up in a draw...Ashes will be of England...
Aus 243/1
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
Almost a day's play is lost due to frequent rain and bad light...
Aus 277/2 at stumps day 3
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
Why did Aussies accept bad light again?
7 more overs lost due to their decision. Incredible!!
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
England are most probably relying on weather already and resigned to the fact that its aussies who need to chase the game and setup the game. In all likelihood, aussies will try to bat out all day tomorrow and gain a lead of over 200 then ask Warne to bowl england out in 3 sessions and save the Ashes for them.
I really hope that doesnt happen but my gut reaction is that Warne will pull it off although :(
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
alot depends upon weather. The forecast for the last 2 days is comparatively better, however as Atherton mentioned that the biggest problem in September is the bad light which kills the last session of the game. With so much time wasted already, the last thing australia needs is the bad light offer to english batsmen on the 4 or 5th day, whenever they come to bat.
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
Oh gosh..i can't even tune in to the Ashes in this darned place. Great updates..keep em coming :)
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
^ Hey DD, good to see you here. How you doing?![]()
That makes their decision to come off tonight and yesterday even more baffling ![]()
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
That’s precisely Aussies’ game plan. ![]()
Good, you’ve seen the future already. Is Back to the Future among your favorites?
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
England are lucky to have won the last test...the real decider...the Ashes are in...this match is a 0 game...
In the last 2 days...28 wickets still to fall is a big deal...
I think...England will try their best to play this match off...but will be happy already as a draw...
See you tomorrow...good nite... :)
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
You sure have wild fantasies…hmmmmm
PS: My Giles & Collingwood will strike harder than ever…hmmmmmmm2
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
oh well. Its a shame that aussies are relying on Warnie ala Muralitharan to save their preciuos ashes and then they pull out stunts like coming off now. Anyways England are still the favourites. Hayden might have scored a century but it is evident that they need to rebuiild their squad in order to regain their recent dominance over rest of the world.
England were the btter team over five tests and I hope they regain ashes
I am jsut glad that rest of the world has an even playing field against aussies from now on.
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
I am sure giles will take wickets with his out swingers and save the day hmmmm3.
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
**MY **Giles and Collingwood? I don’t know about other people but your surely have wild fantasies:hehe:
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
I could have agreed with had I not seen Simon Jones makding the Aussies dance. I can bet if Simon Jones had been fit this game would have taken a swing with England making 375 in first inning and Simon Jones on the attack this Hayden would have gone by now instead making 100 and Ponting would be searching for more words on how to defend his captancy.
Bring in Simon Jones and you will be singing English national anthem ![]()
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
L:hehe:L!!!
back to the game: either aussies are extremely confident about their game plan or too confused. The way series has gone, I think its the second option.
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
The reason Aussies accepted bad light cuz they do not want to lose wickets and want to avoid follow on to give upper hand to the English. They accept bad light so that they can come out next day and start hamering the English bowlers as compare to with bad light they may lose wickets. Like they did today, accepted bad light yesterday and look at the score at the end of the day. And by the end of 4th day if Australia can build up some lead close to 300 they might take chance try to bowled them on 5th day. They know they have lost the Ashes already and there is no harm in going for the kill on 5th day. Thats just my opinon I guess we will find out by the end of tomorrow.
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
Okay thats an unfair statement. They have dominated and bullied Aussies in last two teams and it is australia team who are lucky enough to still have a chance of defending Ashes. Yes Australia almost sneaked through the backdoor but on sheer dominance of the game, England deserve to be ahead in Ashes.
and I agree with teaser. English bowling unit is not working that well as a machine because their vital cog Jones is missing.
Re: Ashes 5th Test- Oval
if aussies can take a lead of around 200-250 today, they have a realistic chance of bowling out pom-pom-army in 1 day [monday],draw the series, put that surma from the ashes-urn into their "walayati akhan" and go home like heroes :D
