A bit of a see-saw day. England came out of the traps well after winning an important toss.
Australia (Warne) then raised their game taking those 4 wickets leaving England reeling on 4-130 odd. Strauss and Flintoff then steady the ship moving the score to 4-260 odd.
Australia then raised their game again at the end taking those late wickets to leave them ahead (IMO) after day 1.
Ominously for England, Warne posted those figures on day 1 on a flat batting track. What he might do on day three/four if England are batting again doesn't bear to think about.

England will probably end up some where between 350 - 370 and which will be a good first inning total. Now I wish had Simon Jones in the England side this mach could have been very well on English side. With the current English attack I think Australia will save the follow on and end up either close to England's total or they may end up 20-30 runs extra at the end of their first inning.
I think this final at oval is set for another thriller, had England bundled out under 200 than Australia would have gone for the kill but now I think the Aussies will have to play sensibly and avoid losing early wickets. The Aussies will be under preasure since they MUST win to save the Ashes so anything over 350 will make them under preasure. I wish if England ends up with 400 for the first inning that will make the Aussies even more under preasure.
I'd say get ready for a thriller for this weekend.
