ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

Evenly matched teams - exciting builtup - bitter rivalry as legacy. What more can you ask for a series?
Any takers for Ashes fantasy league?

This time I propose the following changes -

  1. As suggested by many - a run out will earn a fielder 5 points - (assists not counted )
  2. I also propose to give 1 point bonus for every 25 runs milestone achieved by a batsman.
  3. Bowler gets a bonus of 10 points if he gets > 5 wickets in a match.

Any more suggestions?

Re: ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

Welcome back bitter, where u been !? I am up for the Ashes phantasy league.

Re: ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

thanx for the welcome!! was quite tied up with work :(

Re: ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

A fielder must get 5 points for a catch or run out.
If a bowler bowled the batsman, he gets 15 points. LBW and catch out earn him 10 points. Similarly, a caught and bowled will give him 15 points (10 for wicket and 10 for catching).

Re: ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

What are the team formats

5 batsmen, 4 bowlers, 1 AR, 1 WK?

Re: ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

You mean 20 points.

Re: ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

Welcome back bitter. Take your place here :D

1) In test matches, wickets are harder to come by and should fetch 30 points instead of 20.
2) I do not agree with 25 runs mile stone but I think that a century should get additional points. For example when a players gets a hundred, he gets 100 plus 10 points (for example) on reaching a milestone.
3) Man of the match should also be considered for further points.
4) I agree with bonus points for 5-wicket hauls.
5) I agree with caught-and-bowled thing but different points for different dismissals is kinda unfair. For example a batsmen can get bowled out on a wide delivery playing on and this will get lesser points than a perfect outswinger resulting in a caught behind the wicket.

Re: ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

In that case a batsman’s 5 points must be deducted

Re: ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

So, the aim of this thread is to find out new ways to torture bitter? :hehe vali smilie:

Good going guys. :k:

May I suggest, the captain who wins the toss be awarded 15 points, and the team that does not bowl its quota of overs for the day be deducted 100 points, spread over all the bowlers who bowled in that day, with the exception of the trump selected by a member, whose points for that day will be doubled and then 15 points taken away.

If I think of more ways to make it insanely complicated… oops, I mean, fun … I will be back. Till then, cheers!

Re: ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

MoM points can be scrapped but all other suggestions I see as fair not-so-complicated. Besides apart from five-wicket hauls and century ones, all other suggestions have been used before. (run out points and 30 points a wicket in a test)

Even ICC is complicating the game to some extent, we should roll with tthe changes too :-p

Re: ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

Decide on the rules already. And then: I'm in!

Re: ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

Keep the rules as simple as possible and ones which Bitter can feel comfortable with. :)

Re: ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

I'm always game.. especially for an Ashes.

Re: ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

nice suggestions! good going...I would not mind adding complexities as long as 'EXCEL' can do it ;)

listing them down - let me first list the doable
1) Runout points for a fielder
2) Bonus points for bowler and batsmen for achieving milestones
3) A man of the match certainly should get 10 points

not do-able(although good suggestions)
1) Captain getting the points for winning the toss - that is not a achievement..he just got plain lucky
2) Docking points off the team for slow bowling - although a good suggestion but difficult to implement and also the team can make up on next day!

I plan to start accepting the teams from 5th to 18th July - 20th July is when the first test match starts....

Re: ASHES 2005 Fantasy League - Discussions and Suggestions

I am heart-broken!

I was so about to win the fantasy league by betting on Ponting winning the toss. :frowning:
