only because its your thread thats why or because you won't be able to defend if someone said the truth? :-)
No, you can start your own thread and talk all about anything you want, including truth. :)
I went to see Asha Bhonsle live a few years ago here in Toronto .... actually, it was on my 15th birthday so a long time ago! :)
She is very good...definitely worth seeing live.

must say I agree with you. For someone who acts as the moral police around here, Faisal bhai is pretty damn defensive when it comes to himself.
hey guys don't miss out on this one.....i had a blast when they came to Toronto. Adnan Sami's music is awesome.
The concert was amazing. They performed in Calgary in May 4th and it was one of the best concerts I've been to. Adnan is an amazing performer, and Asha, even at the age of almost 70, she is amazing as well.

Hell yeah...
btw, Asha Bhosley sux... Latas is good though
Did anyone go? How was it? I din't go but heard it was super amazing.
I have been to one of hers alone in Dubai a couple of years ago.. enjoyed every minute.
I went again a couple of weeks ago in Houston.. the one with Adnan Sami.. The organizers skimped on the sound and chose the wrong Arena as well so it went kinda crappy acoustics wise... but for me, any chance to hear one of the greatest diva alive in person is well worth the three hours.
I Faisal is ok with it, I think i have some crappy digital camera pix I might post to this thread.
P.S. Spock showed that he doesn't know his behind from his elbow when it comes to Bollywood music.
It was amazing.
The tour is dubbed Adnan Sami (or "Saa-mee" as its now pronounced) and Asha Bhonsle tour, which I thought is quite stupid. Frankly if Asha hadn't been there, I wouldn't even have bothered to go and hear the moto-mian.
Anyway, Adnan is twice as fat as I remembered him (which was quite fat by itself). He still has a distinctive voice, which you can hardly mistake for someone else (very bhaari). He has his own kinda music composition skills, and in my personal view, if you have heard one of his songs, you have heard them all. Anyway, thats just me. Not to take anything away from him... he is definitely very talented (song-writing, composition, singing --- all rounder) though I just can't get myself to like the dude all that much. Plus since Asha was there, so there was actually no comparison.
Coming to Asha... whatever we say will just not be enough. The lady is a legend in her lifetime. She started singing at the age of 11 and will be 70 this year. She has recorded 12,000 songs (world record btw) and has such a huge repartoire of songs, that any song she picks, will be a super-hit with the crowd.
There were, like, 15,000 to 20,000 people there. Very organized concert. Not jam-packed. Adnan started pretty promptly at 8:45 pm. Sung four songs. Then Asha came and mesmerized the crowd for the next 1 hour 20 minutes. And she sung so many of her hits. And many times, she won't stop after the song is complete, but the music will just merge into the next one and she sung five songs at a time, before taking a break. It was awesome.
Then, Adnan came back and both of them sung the title duet "Kabhi Nazar Tau Milao" and she went off. Then Adnan sang 3-4 more songs and wrapped up around 12:45 am.
I thought the acoustics of the Colesium were pretty darn good. They had huge screens too, so we can catch every facial expression made by Adnan (and he makes quite a few). Asha was graceful and cracked quite a few jokes, including the line which I am sure she says in every concert and which draws most applause... "Do I look like 70? Do I sing like 70?".
In between Sudhash Bhonsle (I guess thats his name) and did some parodies of different people singing the song "Kabhi Nazar Tau MIlao". The one he did for Amitabh Bachan was actually very good. The guy is talented. He sung a few of his own songs too. Anyway, he is just an after-thought.
sounds boring.

No one is taking anything away from Lata. She is a legend, alright.
I guess your comment "Asha Bhosley sux" prompted Pak Abroad's comment. Then again, just as you have a right to your opinion that Asha Bhosley sux, so does PA has the right to his opinion that you don't know much about Indian music. Now either one of you or both of you can be right or wrong. :)
