We call ourselves ‘Muslims’, are we really though?
The 1st thing that we should beleive as muslim is in the Shahadah

eclaration Of Faith.

‘Lailaha Ilall Lahu Muhammedur Rasullulah’
‘There is no God but Allah and Muhammed is his messanger’

In our hearts do we really beleive in the shahadah?

What are your opinions!

Hana,

I think it's important to differentiate between 'understanding' and 'believing'.

I personally think almost every Muslim believes in the shahada, but at the same time, I also think that lot of Muslims don't understand the true meaning of the shahada.

For example, when there is confrontation between Muslims (in any country) and any other entity; you hear our Muslim leaders telling us to rush to the American government and ask for their help, and surprisingly enough, many Muslims do that.
Heck, there have been special organizations established for this task.

But if we just stopped to think for even 10-15 seconds that what we're going to do might be associated with 'shirk', we'd never do it.

What we're basically doing is thinking to ourselves that U.S. is the alone entity capable of helping us, even though it might be the U.S. who is killing us.

Just a very small example. I can sight 100 other examples, but maybe some other time :)

Baleyaa yaar you took the burden off my shoulders wells said...

Saying shahada will make you muslim but it wont help you enter "jaanatt" if you dont do other acpects of islam such as " Nammazz, roozaa ETc." you have to do everything that islam(quran and hadith) tell you to do than you will be COMPLETE muslim...ONLY allah is to ask for help NO ONE else...than ALLAH might help us through those entities that we were going to ask help from before asking allah...but we should always GO first to allah and ask help from allah...than its up to allah on what ever way he choses to help us weather through non-muslim or muslim, enemy or a friend...

What gets us/doesnt get us into jannat is not known to us. We dont know what action of ours might be so liked by Allah SWT that He might enter us into jannat, and at the same time, we cant be sure of entering into jannat despite the fact that we pray 5 times a day and apparently fulfill all other religious duties. Shahadat is a basic stepping stone to all other entities of Islam. I dont understand the purpose of your question. However, I do believe, that as a muslim, yes, we all do believe in the oneness of Allah SWT and finality of Prophet SAW. I dont agree with baleyas analogy of muslims committing 'shirk' by rushing to USA for help everytime a need arises. First of all, Allah SWT creates USA as a "source" of help, not the help itself. Secondly, USA is not doing anything for free. Its always paid for whatever it does, and thats not shirk. However, to answer hanas question in one sentence, yes, muslims do believe in the shahadat.

Well said Baleya and Jawwan!

Akif, the reason why it's haraam to ask USA for help (on State level, individual level is different), is because USA does not judge by Islam as the means to solve the problems.

And Allah swt says , "Whoever judges/rules by anything other than Islam is a kafir/fasiq/zalim"

I'm paraphrasing the ayah, the exact verse is in Surah Mayada. I do not recall the exact verse number.

There are numerous similar ayahs in the Qur'an.
One thing I try to do is to understand what the text (Islam) says about a certain issue before I decide my own opinion about it...
