Mumbai (Apr 4):Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai has been offered a lead role opposite Pierce Brosnan in a new James Bond movie but the highest paid Indian actress has yet to give her nod to the project.
“I am still to talk to the people from the London-based International coordinating agency, who have sounded me on the role on behalf of the studio making Bond movies,” the actress said, sources close to her informed on Friday.
Aishwarya is recuperating in the P D Hinduja hospital, where she was admitted early yesterday following the freak accident during the shooting of Khaki, near Nasik on Wednesday evening.
“The agency people had come over to Nasik on Wednesday to meet the actress but as she was busy with the rehearsals, she could not discuss the project with them,” the sources said adding they might meet Aishwarya on Saturday.
The top Indian actress has already given her consent to two Hollywood projects–Gurinder Chadha’s Pride and Prejudice and Invaders, directed by Roland Joffe.
Meanwhile, Dr Sanjay Agarwala, chief of Surgery and head, Orthopaedics department, said the actress is responding to treatment and getting more and more mobile.
The doctors dressed her wounds this afternoon and they would change her fibre-glass plaster on the left leg in a couple of days.
Come on Fret. I am sure, she is a better actress than some of them out there… and am equally sure you will change your mind when you see Ash coming out of the ocean in the orange one…
I think she would probably do a good job. And they can always use doubles for all those other scenes if Ash felt reluctant but then again with Pierce Brosnan opposite her I wonder if she really would!
Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai may soon star in a James Bond movie. The former Miss World, who is now recuperating in the Hinduja Hospital following an accident in Nashik, has been reportedly offered a role in a Bond film.
A stuntman lost control of his vehicle and knocked her off her chair as she was watching a rehearsal on the sets of the film Khaki in Nashik on Wednesday.
A hospital source said that she suffered a hairline fracture of her small toe on the left foot and is now walking with the support of a walker. “Except for the plaster cast application of her toe, her bruises have healed,” said the hospital source.
It is likely that she could be discharged within a couple of days but it seems she would not be able to get back to her dancing sequences in the films for some time.
Apparently, an international coordinating agency has got in touch with her on behalf of the studio involved in James Bond movies. The agency, which had gone to Nashik to hold discussions with her, is likely to meet Aishwarya today. The offer could take the actress to new heights as she would be the first Indian actress to star in a Bond film.
