Re: Asaf-al-daula (Nawab of Oudh 1775-97)

wait so it's the same picture just different years? interesting. though i find the style of both the paintings a bit different from how the locals were painting at those times. is the artist a brit?

Re: Asaf-al-daula (Nawab of Oudh 1775-97)

you see how they added more black in the later century.. Paintings sometimes record history in a way that can not be altered.. so they didn't always wear black in Muharram.. also the later century Molvi's looks a little more strick than the innocnet 1700s molvi..

If you look at Chritian Art from 1100's Mary is shown a brunette and dark eyes but in the later 1600s she is painted a blonde with blue eyes..

so much of all this is for propaganda reasons..

Re: Asaf-al-daula (Nawab of Oudh 1775-97)

lol yeah you're right. but for some reason the first (later year) painting looks more dramatic with all that black.

Re: Asaf-al-daula (Nawab of Oudh 1775-97)

notice how they added a candle holder on the left side corner also..

Dark black backgrounds or the Baroque style is always dramatic..

Neat

Re: Asaf-al-daula (Nawab of Oudh 1775-97)

oh yeah! more chandeliers more candle holders. who are the artists though?

Re: Asaf-al-daula (Nawab of Oudh 1775-97)

CHECK out the SHEESHA!
I want some of that.

Oh yeah, the paintings are different, I think they do the same dramatic effect with digital technology nowadays.

Re: Asaf-al-daula (Nawab of Oudh 1775-97)
