Re: Asad Shafiq
I don't think it's fair to call Younis Khan a grinder. He does it when the team needs it but he can be attacking when he wants to. See his innings against SL.

Re: Asad Shafiq
When I created the thread, I actually used Misbah-kick-out as flamer :D as Misbah is not too far from retirement already so we can keep him and Younis to help out young seeds like Asad, Azhar to learn build an inning.
FYI all, when Misbah was on sidelines and we were giving chances to idiots like Farhat, Faisal Iqbal and so many others I had been wanting that Misbah be brought into the side.
*Some idiots were calling him a "test player" after the Zimbabwe innings. I shudder to think of what T20 cricket has done to the brains of these cricket "fans", really.
He is a solid batsman and should stay in the team through the rest of the tournament.*
I agree, some kids thing cricket is all about slogging, they need to learn different approach in different formats of the game.
Have not seen Azad Shafiq play. From the posts here, he is a grinder like Misbah and Younus. Do you guys need 3 players who grind it out? Isn't that one too many?
Asad has capability to grind it out while keep the game going, Pakistan has seen so many collapses so frequently that we do need players who can grind it out as well as accelerate when needed, wait for the right ball to punish and let go of the good ones. Besides Misbah and Younis are not going to be with team for long time while Asad will hopefully make up the batting spine in future.
Re: Asad Shafiq
I think Asad Shafiq is more a test cricket jewel...his idol is Mohammad Yousuf...but in shorter formats...he can provide some solid and secure batting yielding runs while still not throwing his wicket away + some good fielding...
