Anyone following this guy on Indus?
He is a ridiculously amazing singer. Does he write his own songs?

his brother is much better than him… but then again Asad is younger.. so maybe he’ll learn and be as good as Ali Abbas… Ali Abbas is probably the best young vocalist in the country…
Re: Asad Abbas
^ I did not know they were brothers!!! His brother is AMAZING!!!
Asad is quite good.
Unfortunately just like India, reality show singers do not get the recognition they deserve.

pretty sure they're brothers... think I saw it mentioned somewhere...
yeah they were reality tv singers, but once they've been discovered... they should be given the due recognition... first we biatch and moan that they've gone to India. and once they do come back, we make them sit home... instead mummy daddy baysuraays like Atif Aslam, Ali Zafar, Hadiqa Kiyani etc are all over TV... at least Atif Aslam sang a couple of good songs... but I'll never figure out why Hadiqa Kiyani and Ali Zafar are so famous... Ali Zafar's most famous song Channo... the guy bought that off a poor singer for 500 rupees or some ridiculous amount like that... how sad... is that a real artist?
either way, now that people like Zaheer Abbas, Ali Abbas, Sara Raza Khan, Akbar Ali, Musarrat Abbas, Amanat Ali, etc, have been discovered, make sure they get chances. make sure they're remembered... they're extremely talented artists... Amanat Ali got some push from Geo... and one can see Ali Abbas and Sara Raza Khan here and there on PTV, etc... but Zaheer Abbas, Musarrat, Akbar Ali have totally disappeared. and dare I say that Zaheer Abbas was as good as Ali Abbas... maybe even better than Ali Abbas... (yes, I know I called Ali Abbas the best vocalist in the country up there).
back to Ali... the most amazing thing about Ali Abbas is his ability sing Punjabi folk/sufiana kalaam just as well as a soft ghazal or a shoakh filmi song... remarkable singer really. the likes of Ali Abbas, Sara Raza, Zaheer Abbas are the ones who should be working with Rohail Hyatt, Shoaib Mansoor, Meekaal Hasan and getting chances on Coke Studio, etc.
I'll post more of Ali Abbas' performances here. especially the ones with Sara Raza are a real treat...
Re: Asad Abbas
Ali Abbas and Sara Raza (what an adorable cutie… what a lovely smile… sorry for the chichorapan… it’s second nature and almost involuntary) together…
these two are absolutely brilliant though Ali Abbas is more sound in terms of technique, etc. if they get music directors of the caliber of Arshad Mehmood, Shoaib Mansoor, they could become just as big as the stars of yesteryears like Naheed Akhtar, etc.
Re: Asad Abbas
Who the heck is Sara Raza Khan?
Maybe these folks are not as famous because they don't come up with their own original material? Hadiqa also gets a tremendous amount of press.
I don't see these singers being posted up AT ALL on pakmusic, and other such busy and frequented pakistani music sites. If they were, they probably would have bands running after them to join them.
Re: Asad Abbas
The Abbas brothers come from a musical background. Their mamoo is an old composer. Nizar Ali, I think?
Re: Asad Abbas
Sara Raza is a Pakistani singer who went to some Indian show… and did pretty well there.
what’s the big deal of writing original stuff anyway? there’s a big difference between Arshad Mehmood composing a song/ghazal etc versus writing Ali Zafar writing a 4 minute long jingle with all the musical sophistication of a nursery rhyme…
anyway, back to Sara Raza… a couple of her performances… one after being discovered and one from before… absolutely BRILLIANT both of them! though the Tere Ishq is probably better… probably the best rendition of Tere Ishq Nachaya I’ve heard. and she was so young when she sang that…
these are the people who should be on Indus Music, Aag TV, etc… instead you get no-talent auto-tuner hacks like Faakhir, Nida Arab, Ali Zafar, etc on there all the time.
c’mon hadiqa is really talented!
here is her singing in chinese look at the notes she hits in the song
and here are some other very beautifully sung songs by hadiqa
lol i need to defend hadiqa kiani a little less hahaha but she is talented as well as good looking;) its just she doesnt really show her talent in most of her videos like sohnya was such a lame song she doesnt showcase her singing abilities as much as she should…
btw this guy is talented too
Re: Asad Abbas
Because you can have beautiful singers singing the same noor jehan song over and over, and quite frankly, I don't care and neither do most youngsters these days anyway. Those songs are old, re-run way too many times for their own good, and for an industry to grow, you need new compositions.
Re: Asad Abbas
maybe the tragedy is that we don't have any good song writers? Look at Amanat Ali's album - it had no real good song to write about! Quite a lame album IMO because he has a potential of giving us some fantastic vocals!
I think Aag and IM do support new singers but I don't think they are crazy about people singing the old movies/Noor Jehan songs. (as PCG said)
The dearth of good writers might be the real issue here besides the whole coke/pepsi backing your album.
Re: Asad Abbas
OK ppl is it just me or is Aag record's monopoly over pakistani music responsible for some seriously mediocre albums coming out recently? The Aag logh seem to give everything unnecessary makeovers (look @ Hadiqa) and the singers churn out very similar poppy and preppy songs. When there's a monopoly, the big fish begin to take things for granted...(my opinion so please don't flip.)
Asad and Sara need to get signed to a proper label that knows their potential.
i just listened to asad abbas’s version of naina thag lain ge from omkara orignally sung by rahat fateh ali khan…he did a very very good job…the background music wasnot that good but he did insaaf to the song…10/10 boy well done keep it up…on the other hand ali abbas is good too but vocals wise i prefer asad…and sara is sureeli too and pretty too.
Re: Asad Abbas
Nice thread.
I am a big fan of Ali Abbas, his younger brothers Asad Abbas isn't too bad but Ali Abbas is a COMPLETE singer. Some of his performances in Indian reality show were breathtaking.
He is doing an excellent job with Sara Raza Khan who has matured as a singer.
Amanat Ali was always an amazing singer but his first album was disappointing.
One singer i became a huge fan of has totally disappeared and that is Musarrat Abbas, he wasn't a versatile singer but he was undisputed king in his own genre. Some of the songs of NFAK he sang sound even better than Nusrat himself, i have never heard of him and i don't think he has released his album as yet.
I think Hadiqa and Atif have their own style so we can't compare them with Ali Abbas, Amanat etc. Hadiqa is just OK but Atif is blessed with amazing voice (not talking about sur or taal), most of his bollywood songs are superhit and his 2 albums were full of quality songs.
Re: Asad Abbas
Yeah I agree. There are great vocalists out there, but not many great lyricists or composers who can write great songs for them. They probably don't have the talent to create the music on their own anyway.
You can sing fabulous, but you may have zero composition skills.
Not sure, but if I was a band dude, I'd look for these guys to be vocalists for my band as oppose to some of the vocalists out there working in bands these days.
