Re: as people celebrate the new year's...
for abundance, joy and wealth. amidst all this, and all around this little affluence, may we also be able to think of the poverty in the world and its impact on human life. injustice, greed, monstrous acts of torture, horrible terror, social ill of dependency, exploitation, plunder, mischief, disgrace, disdain, carnage, malice, ignorance, mean, conniving, cunning, deceit and waste of life/property with so much more that is life destructive...all instruments of inhumanity.
any thoughts on how to rid the world, in little ways through and where each one of us is, in an effort to make the world a better place for the next generation?
share your thoughts if you like.
best,
Dushwari
Unfortunately Dushwari, this new year I and the people around me were only able to think of injustice, greed, inhumanity, waste of life/property etc.
As you may know in Kenya we are experincing shocking events after our elections.
But I see the positive attitude of people here. Despite all odds, people have decided to attempt a local initaitive to promote peace amongst ourselves. All over media is doing its utmost to heal the rift created in a matter of days. Instead of the blame game, they are more focused on finding out the solution to the violence and senseless carnage. Previously neighbours, friends, colleagues...now people viewing each other with an unspoken barrier, tension and suspicion. I can see the effort that is being made in trying to heal.
I do pray that the New Year unfolds with a stronger bond than ever before between ourselves.
