I’ve learned that you cannot make
someone love you. All you can do is
stalk them and hope they panic and give in.
I’ve learned that no matter how much I care,
some people are just assholes.
I’ve learned that it takes years
to build up trust, and it only takes
suspicion, not proof, to destroy it.
I’ve learned that you can get by
on charm for about fifteen minutes.
After that, you’d better have a big willy
or huge boobs.
I’ve learned that you shouldn’t
compare yourself to others - they are
more screwed up than you think.
I’ve learned that you can keep vomiting
long after you think you’re finished.
I’ve learned that we are responsible
for what we do, unless we are celebrities.
I’ve learned that regardless of
how hot and steamy a relationship is at
first, the passion fades, and there had better
be a lot of money to take its place!
I’ve learned that 99% of the time when
something isn’t working in your house, one
of the kids did it
I’ve learned that the people you care most
about in life are taken from you too soon
and all the less important ones just never go away.
Pass this along to 5 friends…trust me,
they’ll appreciate it. Who knows, maybe
Something good will happen.
As I've matured, I've learned that cute little inspiring poems and prose don't do jack to improve a person, they are merely empty, hollow words used by the Hallmark type industry to make people feel better about themselves.
As I've matured, I've learned that to really get somewhere in life, one has to stop quoting/relying on these cutesie motivational writings and actually get off their rear ends.

Hmmm...I never thought this was a 'cute' or 'motivational' piece...your idea of motivation and cute are clearly very different to mine.
In fact this piece seemed a rather harsh take in comparison to what I would consider motivational...
Besides which it seems rather presumptuous of you to say that my quoting this or any other piece is synonimous with trying to 'really get somewhere in life'. I am merely sharing something which interested me...in case it interested other guppies too
Who's to say where I want to be in life and whether posting a poem on GS for me to get there? Perhaps my idea of really getting somewhere in life is also very different from yours

And who's to say where I want to be in life and whether posting this piece on GS is any kind of hindrance in getting me there?
Oh shoot Phoenix, I didn't mean your poem in my post. I was actually agreeing with what your post read. Obviously your post is not one of those cutsie ones you see floating around on the internet. Sorry it came across as an attack on your post.
