Last night watching Loose talk on ARY Digital, I heard the word s*it 15 times in 30 mintues. ARY calls it self a family channel? Even in United States FCC doesn’t allow that word on network channels. Whats going on with ARY?
Finally we have some freedom of media and I guess we can’t handle it. May be we don’t deserve too much freedom.
Among Desis I guess its more of a fashion to say Sh!t. Its not a swear word but sorta kool thing. I know its wrong, but thats the way it looks like in the East.
Same can be said for Damn it! I heard Gorchani (Quetta TV actor) repeating Damn it! atleast 25 times in one 50 minute drama. Don't remember the name of it though. So you can get an idea how seriously Pakistani viewers take these words.
You'r right, desis think its cool to say it, but still it doesn't justify that kind of indecency. This word is used more often among ameircans than desis but still it does not become a part of thier public media. I guess back in Pakistan these TV writers and producers don' t really know that its a forbidden word. Whats next? the F-word?
yeah its kinda odd when i hear it so many times in so many dramas and movies. I guess they dont realise that its a bad word :s
Well, agreed on the use of Sh!t in Loose Talk. By the way, I don't consider ARY to be a safe family channel, anyway. I guess it depends on the ages of your family members. Prime TV is one thing, but ARY certainly doesn't pass the test.
It is a family channel. But not for a very reputable family.
The Game Responds:
*You have to admit, Moin Akhtar looked hilarious when he used it! Really. People, That Is All.*
It's definitely not a family channel.

what particular part was that disgusting.. just wondering.. no fight intended :)
I rather enjoy ARY... but I dont have little kids in the house so its not that big a deal.
You guys have to loosen up a bit, you obviously haven't seen Zee TV or any of the other Indian channels out there. Not to mention any other channel not named Saudi Channel 1, Saudi Channel 2 and PTV. Ever watch any Arabic channels? Let us not be more Catholic than the Pope...

Prime is also like that. I remember watching this drama in 2002, where the girl says 'shuru mujhe nahee pasand yeh niagra viagra' and the guy starts laughing on that.

Pakistani channels have always kept higher moral values than Arab or Indian channels. If I have to see all that junk then i will go somewhere else. I wouldn't subscribe a pakistani channel for all that. So don't compare them. How many parents can watch a program with their kids when sh!t word is used 15 times? If its not a big deal for you then I am sorry for you.
Like smooth guy said, I don't think they are considered as curse words by the Pakistanis. If it was an urdu curse word, it would have been censored but for some reason, words like sh*t and dam are not considered curse words :s
Give me a break yaar...atleast they have a channel running. Even that alone is simply amazing.
Oh puh-lease. If ARY isn't a family channel than what is???
How on earth do you guyz manage to watch any channel on cable tv???
The Sh*t word is used pretty often in Pakistani channels but thats the only thing i find wrong with them. Besides that its perfectly fine. And btw, why should "damn" be beeped out???
boy have you led a sheltered life. Welcome to the real world, where people cuss and women wear revealing clothing. Guess you didn't find that in your village brutha. Anyways, whose moral values and standards are you talking about? Rapes, rampant drug abuse, pornography addiction, child molestations and spousal abuse are all problems running rampant in Pakistan so if you have a problem with some poor director allowing $hit to be used on TV, then you've got another thing coming.

umm the part when this girl(who used to curse shugusta aijaaz at the dressing room of a theater.. i think her name was erum bijlii or somehtin like that) got pregnant because of sahood alvi.. and the part when she was begging him to marry her so she could give a name to a child and then how sahood alvi was pushing her off from him and calling her who*** and few other nasty words... that was the most disgusting part... that girl and shugufta ijaaz exchange alot of bad words to each other in the begining and i think they were still okay cuz you could still watch it with family but that time they had crossed all the limits...
and also in the scene when mahmood aslam went all the way close to that the girl(i think he was trying to kiss her... and i was watchin it with my mom.. and we were stunned... she even said amber beta remote aap ke paas hia na.. so use it :p - those who think we are soo backword.. so yeah we are.. u dont need to say it) and later on in the episode we figure it out that right after the whole thing.. she commit suicide... they didnt show everything but we know exactly what happen.. and that was something i find it very uncomfortable to watch..... other than that it was okay..
if u guys say the use of word sh*t is wrong then i guess if u would have caught that part u would just hate em for showin a crap...
on a lighter note, ptv announced sometime back that they would launch ptv worldwide on a subscription bases, probably to compete with the desi private channels who are doing so well ratings wise. Anyways does anyone know of how soon we can expect that to happen?
