Aruba

im planning a trip to Aruba inshallah the 2nd week in January. Has anyone been there? any suggestions? any ideas/tricks to finding to cheapest packages to Aruba from the USA?

Re: Aruba

Isn't that where that young lady (Natalie Holloway) went missing? The case got huge notoriety. Not sure how much, if any, it impacted tourism there. Seems like a beautiful place, even though it must have a reputation of an unsafe place now (or relatiely unsafe).

Re: Aruba

Ya if I remember correctly, they said on cnn that in Aruba they have underground sex slave business going on. They kidnap foreign girls and turn them into sex slaves. And probably Natalie Holloway is trapped in a similar situation (they believe she might be alive).

Re: Aruba

Kudos to you guys, you've probably just ruined the original posters' vacation plans :)

Re: Aruba

I went to the Bahamas. Not sure how far away from each other Aruba and Bahamas are. Bahamas was beautiful ! People were lovely. Down to earth and friendly.

Re: Aruba

As long as you stick to the resorts, you should be safe. Before I went to Mexico/Cuba, I heard a lot of horror stories and people tried scaring me about the gangs, robbery and women being assaulted. If you go to clubs and those types of environments, your chances of getting into horrible situations increases. Obviously, it won't be smart for you to go out into the streets/cities anyplace in the Caribbean on your own. Stick to the resorts and day trips with companies/staff from the resorts and you should be fine. Have a safe trip!

Re: Aruba

I just thought that anyone who watches TV in the United States and got exposed to the non-stop (over-) coverage of Natalie Halloway disappearance would know all about Aruba, by now. Oh well!

Re: Aruba

I went there a few years back, my sister went there for her honeymoon. All the notoriety from Natalie aside, it is a beautiful island. Best to stick to resorts and guided tours to avoid any troubles but I never had a problem, neither did sis. The beaches are just amazing. I did venture out for shopping and restaurants but I dont know if I'd do that now...I think I'd just stick to the resort and enjoy the sand and surf.

Re: Aruba

yea thanks a lot guys

anyway…bad things can happen anywhere. Take pakistan for instance..they do all kind of crazy things there but it never stops people from going.

I hear all the islands have crazy people living there. I think it should be ok as long as I stick to the resorts.

Mamaof3…any suggestions as to which area on the island i should go 2?

Re: Aruba

yea i did hear about it…but i forgot that took place in aruba.
