artificial jewelry...

So how many of you would wear artificial stuff at your own wedding?

I really wanna wear big big big sets for my wedding, but I don’t want to waste money on something I’ll wear only once or twice. I’ve seen some really beautiful sets and they are pretty good quality, not just cheap dollar store variety, i.e., they’re pretty pricey, more than I could afford on my paycheck :frowning:

So is it really that important to wear gold on your wedding day? I know there’d definitely be aunties gossiping, calling us tasteless, or cheap or my parents kanjoos  but then again i always say aunties can go fk themselves. The only aunties I wud care about are his ammi and thas it :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: artificial jewelry…

Not me!

Personally, i’ll be wearing real gold on my wedding…maybe cos i’m old-fashioned like that, or traditional or wotever u wana call it…plus, my Mum says the dhulan just doesn’t look complete without a nice gold jewellery set to go along with her beautiful clothes…and like it or not, in our culture the in-laws usually like to have their bride in gold too…but of course, this is all if u can afford it…one of my cousin’s had real gold in her set but cudn’t afford real gems but she still looked gorgeous…but i don’t like the idea of HUGE gold sets, or like piling more than one set with others…But it will have to be bigger than wot u wud wear at any other wedding, cos after all this is ur wedding day! You can always reuse them, after ur married ppl won’t look at u weird if u wear ur wedding’s big set to a brother or sister, or even cousin’s wedding…it looks nice, and if not then i guess u cud sell it and buy smaller ones later on…but i wud hang on to mine…no need to worry about wot other auntis think about u, just wot ur family and in-laws mite like…a nice gold set that matches ur clothes and looks decent, with regard to wot suits the dulhan, is the ideal in my opinion…

Re: artificial jewelry...

Hey if my in laws are payin for it then by all means :D BuT I personally wouldn't feel right having my parents spend sooo much...I'd rather he save hte money and buy me other stuff :D And anyway, for party/wedding jewelry i'm veryinto the stones n stuff, not as much as the gold.. :D I guess a combo of gold with artificial wud be nice :)

Re: artificial jewelry...

I wore big sets for my shaadi and waleema. The main choker was gold but had alot of ruby, pearls and emeralds in it. I'll post a pic sometime if this upload ever works. I also had on some other long strands of just rubies. And lastly a longer version of the choker. So a total of 3 pieces around my neck. It actually worked out well and wasn't too much. I didn't want to do just plain yellow gold. That look is a little old fashioned yet traditional. So it depends on what look you're going for. I think it's worth it to buy a big set like that because you will wear it again later.

Re: artificial jewelry...

O kd n yea ur rite... only ppls whoz opinions matter (to an extent :p) are in laws and ur own family ...door door kay rishtaydaar who cares :p

Re: artificial jewelry...

Definately, the combo of gold and gemstones is beautiful that's wot i prefer too...all gold is too much and kind of boring...now how many sets or how big it is, i think depends on the dulhan's features. For eg) if u have a long, slender neck then u can pull off a lot of layers and choker styles...but if u have a shorter neck then maybe a looser, less chunky one wud look better...yeah like saimanyc said also, u will be able to wear big sets later on too, esp if u have a big family and have lots of weddings to attend :)

Re: artificial jewelry…

Hain???

I want a big necklace, i dun care how short m neck is :snooty:

Re: artificial jewelry...

If u don't wanna spend too much then go with a lighter set.

That stuff from Bombay :love::love::love:

Re: artificial jewelry...

Sara wear whatever looks hot! its your shaadi and dont go broke trying to satisfy others. If artificial looks good on you then i dont think there is anything wrong with wearing it.
personally i hate gold. i think it makes me look like an aunty. but it suits some i guess.
I saw some incredible artificial jewellery in jackson heights and in karachi. its to die for.
by the way how do people even tell the difference between a nicely made artificial set ( that looks like its gold) and a gold one?

Re: artificial jewelry…

i wore real gold, my in laws set is huge…as was my parents. But to be honest all my other smaller/medium sets are what i wear now at parties and weddings so i hear you on why waste the money..

my mom wouldn’t be into artificial BUT my friend was telling me in India now the artificial gold on silver jewelery is so good that most of the girls are just wearing that at their own weddings.
Also i heard in Karachi due to security concerns many people attending weddings are doing the same…

these people do a nice job https://www.artkarat.com/main/Productpage.aspx?CatID=1&name=Necklaces
My question is..if you do it…who can tell?
