Article 260 - A Question

Amendment of Article 260 of the Constitution.—
In the Constitution, in Article 260, for clause (3) the following shall be substituted, namely:—
"(3)
In the Constitution and all enactments and other legal instruments, unless there is anything repugnant in the Subject or context,–
(a)
“Muslim” means a person who believes in the unity and oneness of Almighty Allah, in the absolute and unqualified finality of the Prophet-hood of MUHAMMAD (PBUH), the last of the Prophets, and does not believe in, or recognize as a prophet of religious reformer, any person who claimed or claims to be a prophet, in any sense of the word or of any description whatsoever, after MUHAMMAD (PBUH);

My question is, in regard to the above Article, when Isa :as: would come according to majority of muslims, he would claim to be zilli nabi. Right? If so, wouldn’t according to this article, any person who would believe in him be kicked out from the fold of Islam?

Re: Article 260 - A Question

No, becuase the constitution is talking about about person/persons claiming to be prophet after Muhammad:saw:

Re: Article 260 - A Question

^ Right.
This artical is derived from Quran and Hadith's evidence that there will be no prophet after Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), so this artical is just a further extrapolation and another way of saying the same thing what has been told already in Quran and Hadith......

Re: Article 260 - A Question

So, if Isa:as: appears tomorrow. None of know how he looks like ofcourse. And if he claims he is real Isa. In reality, he is claiming to be prophet in today’s age again (i.e., after 1400+ years of the demise of Prophet Muhammad:saw: ). So wouldn’t this law apply to him + his followers?

And if you read it carefully, it states "any person who claimed or claims ". No distinction have been made whether he is an old prophet who has already claimed or he will be a new prophet.

Re: Article 260 - A Question

Noop. He will not come as any Zilli Nabi but as an “Umati” of Prophet Muhammad (PBHH)

If you believe in the second coming of Jesus (PBUH) then you’d also know that after descending to this Earth, He will not lead the first prayer but will just follow Imam Mahdi. That will be a clear evidence that he is coming as a follower of Islam and not christianity and wouldn’t claim to be a prophet himself then.

Re: Article 260 - A Question

So if he will not be a prophet, would it be ok if we don’t believe in him. As it is not obligatory upon believers to believe in someone who is not a prophet.

Re: Article 260 - A Question

I have already explained to you in my earlier post…

Re: Article 260 - A Question

Jeevay, its pretty simple, Isa (a.s) was/is a prophet before Muhammad:saw:, the article in quetsion is talking about people who claim to be prophet after Muhammad:saw: … Isa(a.s) will claim to be him, he does not have to claim to be a prophet.

Re: Article 260 - A Question

If you believe in Isa(PBUH) why are you asking such questions?

When Isa (PBUH) ascended, He ascended as a Massenger (Not Prophet)…

We believe in him (Isa) and all prophets and mesangers of Allah alike. No discrimination…

But in his second coming, he will not come back as a Messanger or Prophet **for that time. **At that time, he will just be a follower, a Massiah.. nothing more…

Re: Article 260 - A Question

My question stands. Will he be a prophet when he reappears or not.

Re: Article 260 - A Question

Prophet = Nabi
Messanger = Rasool

These two are different slightly. Just for clarification of my usage of term Messanger.....in stead of Prophet for Isa (PBUH)

Re: Article 260 - A Question

I think this has been answered already

[quote=“Lahore 981”]

When Isa (PBUH) ascended, He ascended as a Massenger (Not Prophet)…
QUOTE]

What’s the difference?

Re: Article 260 - A Question

I am not very informed on this topic but do know that the clear sign for Imam Mehdi/Issa (PBUH) wil be that Islam will prevail on earth.

It has not happened yet.
