**Mickey Arthur has quit his role as South Africa coach.**Reports have claimed that a breakdown in the working relationship between Arthur, 41, and captain Graeme Smith as the main reason for the departure.
Former South Africa batsman Corrie van Zyl is set to be installed as temporary coach just days before the Proteas depart for a two-Test tour of India.
“All good things must come to an end and now is the time for someone else to take over,” said Arthur.
He helped South Africa become the number one Test team in the world before their 1-1 series draw against England earlier this month.
“The timing is very unfortunate with an exciting tour of India coming up,” he added.
Arthur and Cricket South Africa (CSA) chief executive Gerald Majola will attend a media conference at 0700 GMT in East London on Wednesday.
