Why students doing FA are considered less intelligent than students doing FSc?

Our society is otherwise not that pro-science, but the perception about Arts student is some how not favorable.

They are considered less intelligent, because it requires less passing grades in 10th grade to get int FA, than to get in Fsc.

This thinking started after independence. People observed that engineers and doctors were more well off than any other profession therefore society as a whole favored pursuing these two disciplines.
Things have changed but the mindset of parents and society has not changed.

agar sirf degree k liye taleem chahiye to Arts(mostly wadere,zameendaar)
aur agar shohrat chahiye to science(mostly engineer,daaktar)

halan k BA kar k log MPA ho jaate hain :D

In the presence of booti mafia and rote learning, high passing grades is a superficial criteria to judge intelligence.

What was the position before independence?

I do agree that the perception of Doctors and Engineers be well off lead to this attitude. People are still less aware, to which profession a degree in Arts will lead to their children.

But in Pakistan, most of students in Masters degree in science (MSc) opt for teaching and getting a teacher’s job (even a PST - Primary School Teacher) requires bribe and sifarish. So, the situation for both Arts and Science is almost same when it comes to earning to get rid of starvation.

Engineers ki konsi shohrat hoti hai? I know names of few doctors in my area, but engineers…

Intelligent tu arts waly bhi hoty hain kyun k fsc kuch student fail hojatey hain or fa kay students position bhi ley lety hain han itna zaror hy university kay wakt mein yeh zaror kha jata tha kay bhut farigh hoty hain arts k stydent and dekhta bhi tha if have ever seen arts lobby of karachi university all time celebrations. Magar science k students tu bus lab celebratiin mein busy rehty hain.

Mehnat isiliye ziada hy kay science mein practicals waghera hoty hain, tu isi liye, generally mehnat studies ki zarorat hy.
