is there any such thing as Art Gene…like Allama iqbal was a poet and his grand daughter is a painter(both things related to art)…like it can be in any form if it is present in genes…

I dont think they would call it "Art Gene." But when you are talking about genes, there are some dominant and some recessive. Some ppl could have a dominant gene while some may have a recessive even though they are from the same family tree. So it isn't necessary that Allama Iqbal had artistic abilities, and therefore, his grand daughter (OMG) should have the same.

after reading OMG's intellect through her posts i doubt it has anything to do with genes. no offense personally OMG.
iqbal worked hard to gain the knowledge that is reflected in his poems. and that knowledge is what makes his poetry specical. ppl who rely on their "genes" endup looking like they been pulling stuff out of their rear end mostly. thats my personal experience.

That is true. One should not be depend, or blame on the other hand, the genes they have inherited. So it doesn't matter if you have inherited a dominant gene, it still all depends on how much effort you put into gaining that talent and use it.

I don't think its a gene as such. Ofcourse it isn't always the case but it is somewhat natural for atleast one child in a family to draw inspiration from their parents and take up the parents' professions. An artist parent not only serves as inspiration but will be far more supportive towards a child with an artistic aptitude and will encourage them to pursue art as opposed to, say a scientist parent.

i just started reading this book called "awaken the genius" its talking about something along these lines but the correct way to term it is (according to the book) right brained and left brained...some people are more inclined to use the left and others the right. one of them is the creative/imaginative one and the other likes order/logic....i forget which is which....ill post more in a few days when i read up on it. the book basically aids in identifying if you are left brained or right....and tells us why some people arent sometimes happy with their jobs and such....they might be in a job where there is no room for creativity whereas their brains are more inclined towards it....

Not solely dependent on genes but maybe as someone pointed out, the dominant genes vs recessive genes might play a role along with the right brain/left brain idea that Shweet mentioned. Dope our resident doctor might be able to shed some light on the genetics part of it :D

I believe that creativity is an inherited trait. I'm an artist, my mother was also a self-taught artist, she's also great with photography, knitting, crocheting, sewing her own designed outfits. My grandfather was a professional photographer. So I think there's some gene involved. However in my home creativity was encouraged unlike many desi homes. I was never pressured to go into the sciences. My parents accepted my pursuit of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
