Art classes in Mississauga

I’ve never painted in my life. I want to learn to paint on canvas. I am not very creative but i can manage.

What i want to learn is the physics of painting. What kind of paint to choose (oil acrylic water soluble etc), what kind of canvas to work with, etc etc.

I googled and found this: http://www.livingartscentre.ca/courses_camps/community/adult_courses/index.php?id=28

Theres a few classes there and i’m not sure which one to take.

Any experienced ideas?

I took painting and portrait sketching classes (but almost 7-8 years ago) at the mississauga art gallery i think that's what it's called), it's right next to the utm campus and the classes were pretty decent and fun too. I often come across their advertisement every now n then so I'm sure they're still holding em up.... I've also taken oil painting night class at sheridan but a long long time ago.

Re: Art classes in Mississauga

I took a glass art class at the Living Arts Centre about 4 years ago. I didn't enjoy the class - I thought it was glass blowing - but it was making a mould and pouring the glass(which the teacher did, not the students).

They scheduled a second session and the teacher never showed up so I'd think twice about the Living Arts Centre.

there are some nice videos on youtube that can guide u from a to z regarding paints ,brushes and medium.

Re: Art classes in Mississauga

knowing your level of skill I think you should be able to learn all that you would need from the net and from books and materials you can find at Michael's.......

unless you are interested in making a career of it.
