An art car is a vehicle that has had its appearance modified as an act of personal artistic expression. Art cars are often driven and owned by their creators, who are sometimes referred to as "Cartists.Often these days art cars derive their inspiration from popular culture. Others however, are created by visionary artists in order to express complex visions, philosophies and ideas.
Hmmm I think I should share my Bosozuko project pictures I used to be an ace stylist… but I have friends who’s work surpasses mine thier cars are far more artistic… when mine merely has side pipes… they will have pipes shaped like organ pipes.
Yeah King Mugal theres actually an Automotive and Garage forum there too it’s in the gadgets and technology forums.
Personally I like the Japanese Bosozuku style of car modification.
It’s an art form in itself but it began a long time ago… I guess Lippy and LKK will forgive me for giving a brief History lesson. But basically in the late 50’s right up till the mid 70’s Japanese teenagers and especially the angry young men were very radical and a lot of biker gangs sprang up. These young gung ho bikers were like the Hells Angels of Japan and they would cause mass choas in inner city suburbs by riding round in clapped up Suzuki and Yamaha bikes.
They were gangs of libetarian, radical, revolutionist and often rebelious young people on bikes that really wanted to hit back at what they saw as an unfair society and world order Japan was still trying to struggle out of it’s post war bankruptcy.
This is what the Bosozuku biker style was all about back in the day…
The typical style of the early Bosozuku gangs was drawn from a stylish blend of Classic and modern art… often these young thugs would go round wearing Kamikaze flight Jakets and with bikes looking like they were something Terminator would ride… Like this for example.
And it got worse…
Okay thats enough wierd Japanese Biker gangs. I quite like them though.
Anywaaaay flash forward to the modern era and the Bikers still exist though they have been replaced when the Car stylists came out and stole the art form and took it to the next level. In Japan and all over Asia and maybe coming to a street near you is something like this…
which to be fair is not too bad when you compare it to this…
and these are all the nicest ones you could be driving something daft like the overly flared pipes, crazy body kits and down right dangerous modified spoilers…
So there you have it folks welcome to the wonderful and colourfull world of Bosozoku.
