Arsenal Vs ManU feud

seems six of Arsenal players have been charged (serves them right) and two from ManU

but surprise o surprise - No Ruud Van Nistelroy in it!!! He was the one who jutted one into Patrick Vieira…he was the one who started the fracas..I was one Nistelroy fan but post that match lost all respect for him…

i saw that match but honestly i didn't see Van the Man doing something wrong. Of coruse he made a foul on vieira (during play) and was rightly punished with a yellow card. But after that he didn't do any misconduct. So don't see why he should be punished. As for the Arsenal players, it was quite clear they were provoking him and even pushed him around. now that is misconduct.

Spot on!! What Arsenal players were doing after the penalty was just disgraceful. Ok, van fouled viera but he didnt show any unruly behavior!

Van didn't do n e thing wrong, he did fould viera but he went to help him up n viera just tried kicking him.

I have more respect for Van after the match, he kept his cool when half the arsenal team were trying 2 provoke him in2 hitting back.

The FA has charged 6 players from Arsenal and 2 from Man united. Venger has been asked to appear before the FA to explain the conduct of his team. The players could face suspension and that would leave Arsenal's dream of championship in tatters.

arsenholes should also loose points

Eight charged after bust-up

**The charges in full:

Arsenal:** Charged with “failing to ensure the proper behaviour of their players”.

Lauren: Two counts of violent behaviour for “kicking out at Quinton Fortune following the penalty award and for forcibly pushing van Nistelrooy in the back following the final whistle”. Two counts of improper conduct for “confronting Ruud van Nistelrooy after Patrick Vieira’s sending-off, and for confronting Ryan Giggs after the final whistle”.

Keown: One charge of violent behaviour “for striking van Nistelrooy on the back of the head following the final whistle”. One charge of improper conduct for “confronting Van Nistelrooy following the penalty miss”.

Parlour: One charge of improper conduct for “confronting Van Nistelrooy after the final whistle”. One charge of violent behaviour for “grabbing at Gary Neville from behind shortly afterwards”.

Cole: One charge of improper conduct for “his involvement in a confrontation with Cristiano Ronaldo after the final whistle”.

Lehmann: One charge of improper conduct for “confronting referee Steve Bennett after Patrick Vieira’s second yellow card and for then persistently seeking to confront Van Nistelrooy”.

Vieira: One charge of improper conduct for “failing to leave the field of play following his sending-off, and for instead seeking to confront Van Nistelrooy and engaging in a verbal exchange with fourth official Neale Barry”.

Giggs: One charge of improper conduct for “his involvement in a confrontation with Lauren after the match had ended”.

Ronaldo: One charge of improper conduct for “confronting Martin Keown at the conclusion of the match”.

Phil Neville has, meanwhile, been warned as to his future conduct after a confrontation with Lauren, but his brother Gary and Manchester United as a club are not being charged by the FA.

Arsenal, however, could now face a suspension crisis, with Lauren facing four separate counts, including two of violent behaviour, the same serious charge which is faced by Keown and Parlour.

**FA throw the book at Arsenal **](http://www.sport.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml;$sessionid$OXYUQ22A433OHQFIQMFCFF4AVCBQYIV0?xml=/sport/2003/09/25/sfnars25.xml&_requestid=200446)

Arsenal’s Premiership campaign was dealt a devastating blow yesterday when the Football Association charged six of the club’s key players over the violence at Old Trafford on Sunday. The disciplinary crackdown means last year’s runners-up face total bans of up to 25 games.

In the most damning indictment yet of Arsene Wenger’s side’s lamentable disciplinary record Ashley Cole, Martin Keown, Lauren, Jens Lehmann, Ray Parlour and Patrick Vieira were all implicated while Arsenal were shamed by an additional misconduct charge as a club.

Manchester United did not escape unscathed with Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo also charged. Phil Neville escaped with a warning.

Told this week by FA chief executive Mark Palios that the punishment would be tough, the charges set up an explosive day of personal hearings for the Arsenal players that looks set to influence a title race as never before - and will eclipse previous high-profile disciplinary cases involving Eric Cantona and Paolo Di Canio.

The FA have also answered claims from Sir Alex Ferguson that they have been lenient on Arsenal in the past and allowed the club to use the influence of vice-chairman David Dein to delay hearings and soften punishments.

The charges against the Arsenal players centre on three incidents: Vieira’s red card, United’s penalty award and the attack on Ruud van Nistelrooy at the final whistle.

In a separate announcement, the FA said they had written to Wenger to ask him to explain the post-match allegations of cheating he made against Van Nistelrooy.

Ferguson will be furious that his players have shouldered some of the blame for the ugly scenes at the end of the match, but when he considers the damage the FA’s charge sheet will do to Wenger’s defence - which could be wiped away in one stroke by bans - the United manager will have cause to smile.

The player fearing most for his future will be full-back Lauren, who faces two counts of improper conduct for attacking Van Nistelrooy at the sending-off and Giggs at the final whistle, which could carry a total ban of up to two matches.

But of much greater concern to the Cameroonian will be a further two charges of violent behaviour, against Quinton Fortune at the penalty award and Van Nistelrooy at the end of the game, each of which carries a ban of up to three matches. That could rule Lauren out for eight games in total.

Keown’s clear implication in the violence surrounding Van Nistelrooy, revealed in newspaper pictures after the match, has earned him an improper conduct charge for goading the Dutch striker after his penalty miss and a more serious violent behaviour charge for jumping on his opponent at the end of the match.

With Sol Campbell facing a three-match ban for his stamp on Eric Djemba-Djemba during the Community Shield, Wenger could well have to embark on a month’s football with a defence made up of reserves such as unwanted youngster Stathis Tavlaridis and teenagers Philippe Senderos, who is injured, and Gael Clichy.

Cole will also need replacing at some point after an improper conduct charge for his confrontation with Ronaldo while goalkeeper Lehmann, whose only cover is the untried Graham Stack, 22, has been given an identical charge for his approaches to referee Steve Bennett and Van Nistelrooy.

Wenger’s steadfast refusal to accept that his six years in charge of Arsenal - which have brought 52 red cards - have also marked a steady decline in disciplinary standards has never been brought under greater scrutiny.

Losing such a large number of defenders will be a serious blow to Wenger, who in the last nine months has sanctioned the sale of Matthew Upson, Oleg Luzhny, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and David Seaman as well as agreeing loan deals for Igor Stepanovs and promising youngster Moritz Volz.

In the midfield there was more bad news with Vieira picking up another improper conduct charge, in addition to the automatic one-match ban earned by a red card, for the Arsenal captain’s conduct in the aftermath of his sending-off, which included an argument with fourth official Neale Barry.

As a player who could have covered for Wenger in defence, Parlour is instead in trouble again with a serious violent behaviour charge for attacking Van Nistelrooy at the final whistle and an improper conduct charge for grabbing Gary Neville in the same melee.

With the players almost certain to request a personal hearing it will be a momentous day in FA disciplinary history when all six are summoned to Soho Square to learn of their bans - and also of the sizeable fines that are likely to accompany any punishment.

In the meantime, United released a statement yesterday saying that they were consulting their lawyers over improper conduct charges for Giggs, over his confrontation with Lauren, and Ronaldo, who the FA said confronted Keown after the game - an incident which took place before Cole attacked the Portuguese teenager.

Arsenal will be fined rather than docked points for their charge and last night Professional Footballers’ Association chief executive Gordon Taylor welcomed the swift action. “I’m not surprised by the number of charges because of the high-profile nature of the game,” he said. “Part of being a top professional these days is knowing that you’re under the microscope.”

hehe lets see arsenal sufffer hope this costs them the premiership :k:

Arsenal deserve to have the book thrown at them but you have to admire the committment Wenger gets out of a team of foreigners. it used to be a major gripe that players from abroad didn't give enough commitment but no one could say that about Arsenal.

or other teams for that matter :p
