Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Re: Arrest Over Cricket ‘Match-Fixing’ At Lords

Look at these pics!

It was funny how several super-patriotic but insane fans claimed that the first pic of Butt and Mazhar majeed alongwith the trapper (appeared last week on tabloid)was rigged cuz butt was in front & blabla. How about these pics now?!! Its ridiculous how some of us try to get different reasons to believe that nothing has actually happened and we are in the middle of a day-dream.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

NOTW is planning to milk this for a long time. They should bring everything out in the open and pull their pants down at once instead of doing it little by little.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket ‘Match-Fixing’ At Lords

bhaijan if he was their agent then what is wrong with having pictures with him? Again we have wait for a credible evidence which may very well be there however pictures cannot prove anything. Here is a picture I can post here. Does this prove that George Bush was a bookie as well since he is standing with Salman Butt?

NOTW is saying that they will print details of CCTV footage from the hotel where various meetings took place and that will prove that the meeting took place before the match and the predictions were made before the match.

Interestingly Yasir has denied giving any such interview. Who to believe now

Arif Abbasi speaking on GEO a few minutes ago said that he thinks the PCB management is involved as well as they are always with the team and now have suddenly disappeared.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

This whole case is like the "jalebi" in mithai ki dukaan.

Well, if Yasir didnt say anything then the Pakistani team's lawyer should serve the notice to the paper on his behalf. Its not that difficult to prove if he has said anything or hasnt.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket ‘Match-Fixing’ At Lords

Dude, I salute your hieght of Optimism..

Now if George bush is caught in any vid in which he says that he’ll pay money to butt and inzimam and they’ll do as per what he says, then YES , G.B is a bookie and if its against US law, you’ll see how he’ll be prosecuted here no matter how much services he has rendered for the nation.

You can keep on believing that all Pakistani players/managemetn are innocent.. its just a matter of days before it gets proved

** Pakistan cricket team rocked by fresh fixing claims **

Butt (right), (centre) and Amir are currently under investigation

**A fourth Pakistan cricketer is being investigated by cricket's governing body, claims the News of the World.**

Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir are already the subject of police and International Cricket Council (ICC) investigations over a betting scandal.
Test skipper Butt and fast bowlers Asif and Amir have been suspended and charged by the ICC.
However, it refused to confirm that a fourth player is being investigated for spot-fixing.
A spokesman said: "We are making no comment regarding the suggestion that the ICC is probing a fourth player.
“We do not comment on ongoing investigations, we will not revealing any details about the charges [faced by Butt, Asif and Amir].”

**The Metropolitan Police said it is not investigating a fourth player, while the Pakistan Cricket Board was not immediately available for comment. **
**The BBC understands that wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal has been contacted by the ICC and asked for information, though this is not in relation to the recent fourth Test at Lord’s. **

During that match, Asif and Amir are alleged to have bowled three no-balls between them at pre-determined times to facilitate betting coups after a “middle-man” was reported to have accepted £150,000 from an undercover reporter from the News of the World, who published the story last Sunday.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Now where did I say or claim that they are innocent. All I am implying is that we should withhold our judgement till we have a credible evidence. This "you are either with us or against us" attitude is our biggest problem and thatis why we can never have constructive discussions.

That 4rth player might be damad or Malik

Pakistan match-fixing claims: scandal makes mockery of the game I love

**Imagine being an England cricketer today. You play international cricket to be the main act, not to play a bit part in some trifling sideshow. **

But that, sadly, is all that this brace of T20 internationals and five one-day internationals has now become. The cricket simply does not matter. The ODIs might have been a useful stepping stone to the World Cup. Now they will not.

It is my birthday on Tuesday. Being a sad cricket nut I asked my wife to take me to the second T20 international in my home city, a rare outing as spectator rather than journalist. It has all been sorted.

**But I am not sure I want to go now. It will be rubbish. Only 6,000 tickets had been sold at the last time of asking, so the atmosphere will hardly be rocking. **

I doubt I will be alone in my indifference. I know a local Pakistan man who will not be going, despite shelling out for tickets. “They’ve let me down,” he said of his team.
If the allegations are true, they have let a lot of people down. Not least the England and Wales Cricket Board, which has gone to great lengths to accommodate them this summer.
So, well done to chairman Giles Clarke for his barely disguised contempt during the presentation ceremony at the end of the Lord’s Test. But what on earth was that mock-Churchillian speech all about at Taunton on Thursday?
Allegations of corruption have long appeared to lurk beneath the surface of Pakistan cricket. Annoyingly there is so much to love about it, with its frequent brilliance. But, even though there is obviously compassion for a country in turmoil, struck by genuine disaster, there is also too much to hate about it.
If the allegations against Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir are proven, now is the time for some proper cleansing. Lengthy bans must be imposed – and the gifted Amir should not be spared just because of his tender age. He must serve his time too.

Examples must be made, with sufficiently long time to reform if necessary.** Cricket will recover, as it always does. But can Pakistan’s cricket? It is now or never. **

ICC: fixing case is most serious since Cronje!

Seems like Butt & co. bettors are in deep shyte! May get 10yrs ban.

LONDON – The International Cricket Council head called the fixing allegations against three suspended Pakistan players the most serious case of corruption to hit the sport since South Africa captain Hansie Cronje was banned for life 10 years ago.
**ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat said Friday that allegations that Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir and Salman Butt conspired with bookmakers to deliver deliberate no-balls last week in the fourth test against England were hugely detrimental to cricket. **
Police released the players without criminal charge later Friday after questioning them separately at a station in northwest London, but they are still charged with “various offenses” under the ICC’s anti-corruption code.
“In terms of corruption in the sport, this must rank as the next worst after the Hansie Cronje case,” Lorgat said.
Cronje admitted to forecasting results in exchange for money from a London bookmaker, prompting the ICC to create its Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU).
