Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

FYI, Afridi is already the captain of ODI/T20 team and he has retired from test a couple of time already. Which means he won't take over the test team.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

nut he did! when a player represents his country and commits such shameful acts, if the country does not disown him, it means the country does not believe in honesty and morality. By making him captain pakistan further confirmed and encourage such behavior.

It is a very short step from there for salman butt and co and commit this next immoral and illegal act. Frankly, if Pakistan does not award him naition's highest honor and medal (like was done to afridi) salman has every right to claim discrimination. After all what goes for the butthead goes for butt too!

Re: Arrest Over Cricket ‘Match-Fixing’ At Lords

Really? Not institutionally corrupt? If the institution tolerates corruption that means team is institutionally corrupt.

Pakistan team not institutionally corrupt: official

LONDON: Pakistan team manager Yawar Saeed denied Sunday that cricket in his country was riven by corruption in the wake of claims players had taken part in a betting scam in the Test match against England.

Asked if the British newspaper claims against his team proved that Pakistani cricket was “institutionally corrupt”, Saeed told Sky Sports: “I would not like to say that. This is the first time I’ve been the manager and we’ve been involved in such a thing.

“Yes, one has heard and one has read (allegations), but I would not like to go that far.”

Saeed also confirmed that Pakistan captain Salman Butt and bowlers Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif had their mobile telephones taken away by police on Saturday after being spoken to about the newspaper allegations.

“The three gentlemen have had their phones confiscated,” Saeed told Sky Sports.

The controversy stems from a News of the World newspaper report, which claims it paid 150,000 pounds (230,000 dollars, 185,000 euros) to a middle man in return for details about the timing of three no-balls in the fourth Test at Lord’s, which ended Sunday in victory for England.

The report alleged that Aamer and Asif delivered the blatant no-balls at the exact points in the match agreed with the alleged fixer.

The newspaper published a photograph of the alleged middle man, Mazhar Majeed, who acts as agent to some Pakistan players, counting wads of banknotes given to him by a reporter posing as a front man for a betting syndicate. -AFP

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

absolutely true.

even now I see fans asking if there is a way Aamer can get away with minimum punishment. this is exactly the kind of attitude why matchfixing was rampant in the 90s and why Butt, etc tried it again. they know that fans will push for less punishment and for them to come back.

you've got to punish ppl. you let them get away with scuffing the pitch, ball tampering, underperforming deliberately to sabotage the captain... and eventually they started fixing whole matches.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm and who is going to punish them ? the corrupt politicians like dasti, the courts where you can buy the judges, the incompetent cricket board or the people of Pakistan themselves are going to do the honors as they did with those brothers. Look at your girebans people before pointing fingers at others. This really is a mirror of our corrupt society.

I dont blame the players.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

I remember some idiots calling afridi a 'patriot' for chewing on the ball.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

yes only your heroes - the noble taliban terrorists are good enough to punish them...

for me who ever has a lobby in the team, is involved directly or indirectly in fixing… have you guys noticed that Zulqarnain hairder was sent back to Pakistan, immdiately after the game because he had some injury, while Umar Gul is recovering in England for more than two weeks now… Kamran Akmal the biggest looser was brought back in the team, and he finished the series with 24 runs in six innings, out of which 4 were DUCKS!!!.. same goes for Umar Akmal, the way he becomes a super star and then becomes the worst batsman is pretty obvious. the way he throws away his wicket every now and then is clear. I would like this investigation to go to the deepest possible level…

Re: Arrest Over Cricket ‘Match-Fixing’ At Lords

Rameez Raja on the scandal. slams Butt for being a liar.

Justice Fakhruddin G Ibrahim - a man whose integrity is beyond doubt - gives his opinion. recommends a 3 judge panel:

Re: Arrest Over Cricket ‘Match-Fixing’ At Lords

and here’s the hypocrite who lives conveniently in a secular country surrounded by kufaar… and yet pines for the jahaalat of taliban terrorists.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Agreed. But this is also a sad reflection of Pakistani society. Not just our leaders but people (not all) are corrupt and dishonest too. Pakistanis are always looking for short cuts in life or doing 'hera pheri' to make quick money and cricketers are no different..

Re: Arrest Over Cricket ‘Match-Fixing’ At Lords

He should also recommend 4 men execution squad for all corrupt scums in our society including these shameless jackasses. Unless we deal with corruption seriously we would never get anywhere as a nation. Its a termite that is eating us from inside out.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

whats the latest

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

shoo

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

just a 4 men squad? That would keep them busy for lifetime and yet the job will not be finished.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Is it true that Pakistan players get paid very very less compared to players from other countries?

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

not exactly true. With central contracts, players do get hefty salaries (Seniors) plus perks, benefits. And with commercial deals/endorsements, you can get loaded upto neck quite easily.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

o come one pak players earn so much money...they just earned nearly 10 lacs from two test matches they won and that was just bonus ....all other aside

its a really shameful act
