What makes them successful? How do you start life with a complete stranger and develop a liking for them and get them to like you?
Most marriages take place on material grounds and basic similarties are matched most things are taken at face value ,thats how most matches are made. Its mostly a give and take situation,where I would say the girl has alot to lose.
Just sounds absurd if you really think about it.

Pressure to stay married, stigma on divorce, and the general outlook of marriage not being some kind of beautiful union between two soulmates but a business deal between two families where love is pretty much considered a tertiary thing. People go into arranged marriages with the expectation that they have to fulfill their duty so they do not even think about how to get the other person romantically involved with them (just a civil relationship).

Arranged marriage still has a huge role and scope in several parts of a conservative country like Pakistan. It is still an essential tool, as there are whole communities where any premarital contact between men and women is disinhibited and frowned upon.

lol, seems to have worked for our grandparents, aunts, uncles and others.
I think back in the day it was less materialistic. It was like this family knew this family and they just did it.
Nowadays getting married in the arranged route is more like a business transaction where both sides look at everything from looks, social status, job, money, house, education, etc, etc.

Do arranged marriage people really have sex on the wedding night especially when they don’t even know each other that well? I would think since it takes a couple days for the celebrations and the events to happen, a majority wait atleast until they’ve been married a couple days.

People willingly do that with strangers regardless. In the form of one night stands and after 1st dates. Has nothing to do with arranged marriage.

Arranged these days is different from our parents time. As long as you keep an open mind and look for compatability (and by that I mean look at each of your life values, aspirations, family dynamics etc) it becomes a lot easier. Also most people usually get months to get to know each other so it really doesn’t become that awkward.
