I agree with PakistaniAbroad, that arranged marriages sometimes make you less blind than other ways.
I'm from N.America and I think more and more of the youth prefer to find their own spouse, so yes, I think arranged marriages aren't as popular anymore. More and more people are telling their parents that they wanna look for their partners themselves and a lot of times the couples get engaged first and then announce it to their parents (you know, the Western method).
As far as "arranged marriages" are concerned, it never crossed my mind that it wouldn't include the consent of the guy and girl, since the Nikah won't be valid without both of their consent. So obviously the arranged marriage method means meeting people, with the the guy & girl in question having full authority to decline any proposal or interested party.
