I think it’s doable. I have been to few wedding where the valima was skipped or combined with the barat/reception function. BUT i thought a valima dinner was a must for a guy to give?

Since he’s paying for his part that requirement is fulfilled. It’s the girls side that is going above and beyond Islamic requirement.
