I’m due to move to a village near PD Khan in September to take up a 2 year teacher training post. I’m English, have never been to Pakistan and don’t know anybody there. I’m pretty nervous about what to expect. Can anybody enlighten me?!
Moving to Pakistan
I'm due to move to Pakistan in September to take up a teacher training post near Pind Dadan Khan. I'm English and have never been to Pakistan before. Although I am really looking forward to it I am also pretty nervous about what to expect. Can anyone enlighten me?!
Get married to Dylan
an english teacher based in england wanting to take a training post in pakistan???
] this doesn’t make sense usually some ppl in the same profession come from pak to england for such things, anyways…
u being a 1st timer + a foreigner won’t
ur stay i believe, reason being some ppl their can as nice as a humble human being whilst some u mite come across will be quite the opposite… whilst shopping in pak be very careful, shop owners will definitely try to take u 4 a ride and increase the price of items u mite wanna buy. be careful with trusting ppl straight away, for instance try 2 judge them 1st b4 thinking ur 1 day old friend is the best person to share u thoughts +pesonal info’ with… i won’t say more than this: it won’t be easy for u, still don’t let my comments put u off, best of luck :k:
Where in the world is Pind Dadan Khan?!?!?! I'm not quite sure how far away that is from the city and where exactly will you be staying at? Weather-wise September is a bit sticky as it is the rainy part of the year with high humidity and all. The college I went to had a couple of teachers come over from Bradford, UK too on an exchange program. Basically because they had lots of Pakistani's in their schools so they came over to study what sort of backgrounds the kids come from and what teaching methods we used. But this was in Islamabad which is different as compared to a pind! People are used to seeing foreigners so you don't get treated awkwardly and you can find stuff to do, places to go to. The place you are going to sounds like some small city. All I can say is best of luck!

Why won’t it show the thumbnail image in my post faisal?
Okay, I just saw it. I managed to locate the place where “SarahJoy” is shifting to for an English teacher training :hehe: But I couldnt figure out it is in Punjab or Sindh as all the other names of towns are not familiar.
Sounds like a very obscure small town that no one has ever heard of. Are you part of a missionary group? I know some of my friends have been to Mexico to teach as part of a missionary group assignment. They stay for the summer and then come back. Otherwise who would want to go alone and settle down in Pind Dadan Khan?
So it is in the middle of nowhere as i suspected.
Not really in the middle of nowhere. Pind Dadan Khan is on the Lahore Islamabad Motorway right where the Punjab Plains meet the Potwar Plateau (Salt Range). It is a beautiful small town just down hill from Kallar Kahar. KK is famous for its peacocks. I would say its about 90--100Km south-south east from Rawalpindi/Islamabad. Proximal towns are Mianwali, Khushab and Sargodha.

Rukhsarbibi,
I'm not a missionary. I'm doing teacher training for 2 years with VSO. Why woudn't someone want to settle down in PD Khan?

Probably because nobody as ever heared of it. It seems to be a very remote place and the only reliable connection to the cities (Lahore, Rawalpindi/Islamabad) is the highway.
