Army wants best for the country and army knowing that Iftikhar is as corrupt as Devil, it is obvious that Army would not like him to get reinstated. There might be corruption all around Pakistan, but we have to realise that Judiciary is 'mother of all corruption' and when Chief Justice is corrupt than there could be no hope for the country.
Just imagine that ... suppose I am a poor Pakistani and worked hard with desire to become Medical Doctor, and after lot of hard work under unfavourable circumstances, I got enough marks to qualify for admission on merit in Bolan Medical College, an admission that can change my poor life for better. But later I realised that I did not got admission as a third grade student 'Arsalan' wanted to do Medicine too and was given admission depriving me of a place. Now I could go to court against Medical college (regardless of whoever is that 'Arsalan' as long as courts are honest), but could I go to court if that third grade student 'Arsalan' is son of a corrupt thug who is Chief Justice 'Iftikhar' and it was due to influence of Iftikhar that 'Arsalan' got admission depriving me of that opportunity (on merit)? Further, if Iftikhar as Chief Justice could do that then others who have some influence would do that too without fear of courts, knowing that thug as Chief Justice could not stop such nepotism when he himself is guilty of nepotism. Same is true regarding many issues with Iftikhar.
So, one can see how important it is to punish a thug in post of Chief Justice if that CJ starts doing corruption, nepotism, misuse of power, misconduct and malpractices. It is because if such person on CJ post is not punished, than all wrongs would become right in the country (as it would get protection of Judiciary, because CJ himself is guilty of wrongs and of devilish character).
Anyhow, I think that government can do something to get rid of smelly air coming out of Nawaz and filling the propaganda balloon of Iftikhar. That is, reinstating of Iftikhar on condition that investigation of reference sent by Musharraf to SJC and was stopped by SC from getting investigated by SJC gets restarted again, and if Iftikhar comes out of that investigation unscathed than he becomes CJ else CJ go to prison (or home). This would have two effects. One is that all air from balloon of reinstating Iftikhar would disappear and second is that, if allegations on Iftikhar would get proven (most likely it would) than reputation of Iftikhar would disappear amongst illiterate masses too (reputation that is built on propaganda, though all who are intelligent know how devilish Iftikhar is).
