oh bhai, stop blaming NLC, just fix the damn corruption in the department and railways will be back to profitability. Railways is still a big commuting way for huge population, if we can stop corruption, if we can cut down unnecessary staff there is no reason this department will be loss bearing.

NLC was made to snatch the freight market from port area from PR. General mardood Zia-ul-Haq, diverted funds from PR to NLC to import trucks from Germany and other countries with heavy commissions to military officials instead of replacing depreciated locomotives. Price paid by the natiion was quite heavy with more accidents on roads, destroying infrastructure as pay load of these trucks were more a road or bridge could sustain, free transport of drugs and arms by smugglers in the eighties and lastly few frieght trains from port area. Less revenue means heavy losses to national railway which destoryed the very foundation of the system. Who do you want to blame?
