oh bhai, stop blaming NLC, just fix the damn corruption in the department and railways will be back to profitability. Railways is still a big commuting way for huge population, if we can stop corruption, if we can cut down unnecessary staff there is no reason this department will be loss bearing.

i am not sure if corruption is the root cause of mismanagement. A lot of countries and departments develop despite of corruption Indian railways has crap load of corruption too but it is doing just fine due to a good and innovative leadership. innovation and ‘ahliyat’ is the key. for example the director of delhi metro was in railways, he built one of the most difficult railway lines in the world but that line of 700 km didnt find any takers and it was making loss. he introduced RORO (Roll in Roll out) system in India where instead of ferrying cargo they would ferry cargo trucks fully loaded for a price . that idea made that route profitable.

well Delhi metro doesnt fall under Indian Railways. only Kolkata metro is a Indian Railways venture, other metro systems are either corporations or private ventures.
i am not trying to negate your point but just wanted to fix the facts.
