I plan to attend AMC this fall as a foreign student inshallah and wanted to get as much information on it as I can. So if any of you went there please tell me about your experience.
LP Here are a few websites that may help:
This seems to be a site maintained by students of AM college
This is the website for the AMC alumni association
Also my mother was an instructor at AM college, so I can ask her if you have any specific questions.
thank you mufakkar, those sites were pretty helpful. The only thing that I really want to know is what are the required textbooks for 1st year because I really would like to get a head start on the reading. One of the sites had a recommended reading section for the USMLE exams but it was mostly supplemental to the required texts. I emailed the site and am hoping to get a response.
Thanks again ![]()
^ One of the books I would strongly recommend is Gray's Anatomy. That is one book used in every medical college. The others relating to biochemistry, microbiology etc keep changing and you'll find those out when you get there.
Gray's Anatomy is one of the elegant ones. You could give Snell's Anatomy a start. (Upper Limb to begin with)
Also GUYTON & HALL -- physiology (starters topic could be Blood and Endocrinology)
I’m currently doing Kaplan’s Medpass program. The videos are excellent, they’re supposed to be reviews for graduates but for the most part they’re a great introduction as well. Right now, I’m just focusing on Anatomy and Physiology, I might do some Biochemistry later on.
I have Snells at home and I started with the thorax and the amount of surface anatomy in there scared me. I mean do I really need to how to palpate the trachea at this point? I probably should have done the limbs instead in Snells but my mom gave me Hollinshead’s Functional Anatomy for Upper Limb and Lower Limb and its great.
I’ll check out Guyton & Hall and Gray’s Anatomy
Thanks a lot ![]()
