Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

Nothing..just praising the innocense of govt. that anybody can get away with doing blunder and govt. will pay the 'sood'. can't even bring these ppl to justice.

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

Most of the corruption in the military is 'legalized' anyways.

Bring the compensation packages of military officers to the level of our doctors and teachers and see how much faster our GDP grows :P

NAB to probe Rs4 billion NLC scam

Some time ago I have created a thread on NLC’s corruption. I could not find it. This post should be included if the thread is found by moderator. Thanks. (This is a suggestion also for improving this site for having search option for previous threads.)

I wonder what happened to investigations ordered by Kyani last year? It is very difficult to impossible if army high official is ever punished due to enormous corruption. Looks like this case will also be sent to cool freezer like previous one.

NAB to probe Rs4 billion NLC scam

ISLAMABAD, Feb 15: Following investigations carried out by the Planning Commission, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly and army, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) decided on Wednesday to probe the scam pertaining to Rs4 billion investment in stock market by officials of the National Logistics Cell (NLC).

According to a spokesman, the decision was taken at a NAB executive board meeting presided over by its Chairman Admiral (retd) Fasih Bokhari.

The board authorised an inquiry against NLC’s former chief financial officer Saeedur Rehman for misuse of authority wherein huge losses were incurred after public funds were invested in stock exchanges.

However, NAB did not take a decision about any action against three military generals allegedly involved in the scam.

“The NAB board decided to form a joint inquiry team with legal branches (PGA and JAG) of the military’s General Headquarters to form a joint strategy in the same case pertaining to army officials dealt as well by the GHQ,” the spokesman said. The PGA will be the focal point for the inquiry against Mr Rehman and others.

According to the information presented before the PAC, bosses of the NLC had made heavy investments in the stock exchange between 2004 and 2008 in violation of government rules. Besides borrowing money from commercial banks at high mark-up, they also used pensioners’ money for the business.

In return, heavy commissions were received from companies through which the investment of over Rs4 billion had been made in the stock market. The NLC reportedly suffered a loss of nearly Rs1.8 billion.

The PAC took up the case two years ago, but when it was close to completing the investigation, military authorities took a decision to investigate it on their own.

The army has not made public the outcome of the investigation.

The PAC decided in November last year to withhold its final recommendations and give some time to the military authorities after Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani announced that the GHQ would hold its own investigation into the scandal.

The NAB board also authorised inquiries against inspector general Malik Naveed Khan and deputy inspector general Khurshid Alam of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police for accumulating assets beyond their known sources of income. The meeting decided to refer back all the cases of wilful default sent by the Bank of Punjab directly, without adopting the proper channel of the State Bank.

It approved a request for voluntary return by Abdur Rauf, former district nazim of Dera Ismail Khan, of Rs25.78 million for loss caused to the public exchequer by him through ‘corrupt practices’.

Re: NAB to probe Rs4 billion NLC scam

Good to know about that, by the way is any investigations going on in nab about the numerous scandals that have come to light concerning the government?

Re: NAB to probe Rs4 billion NLC scam

Please include this post to my previous thread on the subject and delet this new thread. Thanks.

This is purely military corruption. Keep it that way. Open another thread for government bashing, though there are tons already opened on the subject of government corruption.

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

[note]merged the two threads![/note]

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

thanks.

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

This thread is funny, i find it amusing that these people defend the most corrupt person in Pakistan and criticise others for corruption.

First thing first, these corrupt generals can be dragged around the streets of Pakistan for all i care but who gives you right to criticise others for corruption when you know that you defend the most corrupt person day and night??

I know this thread is about corruption done by military and they should all be exposed and dragged in courts(inshallah that day will come) but hypocrisy of some people is beyond belief.

All these people can say in defence is that "Look other person is doing that as well" or he is doing more corruption and that obviously gives them licence to be corrupt.

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

So what has Zardari done in his past 4 years to bring these people to justice? Its one thing to ***** about the military and their corruption and its another not to blame the government for not taking action. Its time people started lining up generals and hanging them for corruption.

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

At least he is not involved in any type of corruption scandal during his current tenure and proving all your theories wrong.

This thread is for military corruption. Never ever in the history of Pakistan any civilian government had balls to take action because they are the holy cows and above any ******ing accountability and Pakistani bloody civilian laws.

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

What theories? He was convicted by a swiss court! And if they don't have the balls then it means that the civilian government is inept, weak and not worthy to be in government.

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

[mod]Please stick to forum rules and avoid profanity to avoid further infractions..[/mod]

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

Again this thread is to discuss NLC's performance and corrupt practices who runs it. Open another thread for Zardari or Swiss bank accounts I will be there to participate. If you don't have any comment on above thread, then silent is golden.

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

The government can't seem to do anything with regard to corruption so why are they even there? They are incompetent and inept.

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

So let the 'West India Company' do what ever they like .

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

Because military is beyond any accountability on corruption. That is the center of corruption for Pakistan. Not only this government but previous governments right after 1947 were unable to do anything. Are you satisified now?

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

So why complain? If nothing can do about it why act like something can be?

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

Because corruption is propogated guys like you as one sided track which is an absolute lie. The other side where acutal corruption not only breeded but also multiplied like above has always ben ignored. It is high time that Pakistanis hould visualse this sooner the better if they really sincere in eliminating this menace.

Re: Army chief orders probe into NLC financial scam

its similar to corruption of politicians, we - the public - keep crying about it but nothing actually happens, should we stop crying? no.
