Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

MashaAllah we are quick to learn from our Arab brethren…

Army called to protect Islamabad’s diplomatic enclave | DAWN.COM

**ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry called on the Pakistan Army here on Thursday as thousands of enraged protesters attempted to reach Islamabad’s heavily-guarded diplomatic enclave in a bid to register their protest against a US-made anti-Islam film.
**
Police fired live rounds and tear gas earlier in the day to break up a large crowd of over 1,000 students, many armed with wooden clubs.

The enraged student clashed with law enforcement agencies, pelting the police with stones. Several protestors were eventually able to enter the high security Red Zone.

Earlier, police had managed to drive back the demonstrators as they tried to reach Islamabad’s heavily-guarded diplomatic enclave, which is home to most Western embassies, including the US, British and French missions.

The crudely made “Innocence of Muslims” has triggered protests in at least 20 countries since excerpts were posted online, and more than 30 people have been killed in violence linked to the film.

There have been dozens of protests around Pakistan over the past week and at least two people have been killed, but Thursday is the first time protests in the capital have turned violent.

Police fired tear gas and live rounds as the protesters tried to break through a barrier of truck containers set up to block access to the diplomatic enclave.

“I was ordered by my boss to disperse the crowd and that is why I had to open live fire but the aim was nearby trees and not the demonstrators,” Zaman Khan, a police officer deployed at the picket said.

The firing forced the protesters to scatter, but they returned later to pelt the police picket with stones.

Student Asif Mehmood demanded police let the protesters through to the US embassy.

Fellow protester Rehan Ahmad said: “Islam is often ridiculed by America and the West and blasphemy is committed against our prophet in the name of freedom of expression.”

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

things are getting out of control, God knows what will they achieve by resorting to violence.

how would we feel if our diplomats/embassies are being attacked in other countries?
there is something called non violent protets, I guess we havent heard of that.

by creating chaos in your own country, you are basically doing exactly what enemies of Islam want to see.

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

The protesters and their leaders should be arrested and charged with terrorism and destroying public property.

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

And Pakistanis wonder why they are considered terrorists and are hardly given any visas to come to USA.

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

and risk getting the police labelled as blasphemous for arresting people who are (supposedly) protesting against blasphemy?

The situation is truly out of control, and thugs are literally taking over the streets. Every day sees a violent 'protest', resulting in deaths that are perhaps not even counted any more. These protests have nothing to do with blasphemy, and everything to do with bad management. Such incidents make you think twice about democracy.

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

Welcome to the world of an Ahmadi. They have been doing all of this against Ahmadis for decades. I will say it again: we warned you that they will not be satisfied with just us. Once you start giving in to thier BS, you are exposed. And they will take full advantage of your weakness.

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

Compare to us Arabs are lot more civilized. You don't see them running in KSA burning down buildings, or do you?

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

Remember that it is illegal to protest in Saudi.
Also, Saudi alone is not Arab. We do see Arabs in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, and Libya doing just that.

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

just read in the news, among the protesters, most of them were from militant groups, DPC , SSP and others.

now that says it all, why the protest turned so violent on thursday.

so far, 2 people have been killed in Pakistan, since the start of these protests across the country.

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

I agree, the protests have subsided in most places of the world, let the mullahs have their fun time, in a few days they will forget about this and get busy with their lives (declaring people kafir and motivating people for target killings and suicide bombings).

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

But in Those few days there are millions of Pakistanis, daily laborors, guys selling groceries on streets, guys selling fruits on the street, guys selling xyz in streets offering services that they can't anymore as a result of these strikes and uncertain situation on the street, they wouldn't be able earn on those days and feed their families on those days or not be able to pay back any money that they owed to someone because these protest result in loss of incom for them.

If ashiqaan e Rasool and asihiqaan e deen ( prophet's lovers and Islam lover's) think about the harm that their protests are doing to millions of people like the ones I mentioned above, they have a much better chance of pleasing god.

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

Army is out protecting diplomatic facilities? If our leaders had any guts the army would have been out protecting the the lives and property of the innocent common man with lethal force.

This country is a total joke

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

Dear readers,

First and foremost, we reiterate what Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in regard to the anti-Islamic film: “Let me state very clearly, the United States has absolutely nothing to do with this video. We absolutely reject its contents. America’s commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation.”

The riots have turned violent and the situation has clearly intensified in the last few days. Senator Kerry met with Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani and Ambassador Sherry Rehman and praised Pakistan’s efforts in preventing violent protestors from entering Islamabad’s diplomatic enclave. Senator Kerry also condemned the anti-Islamic film, saying: “All of us in the U.S. – all of us condemn this senseless intolerance exhibited by the video which very few Americans have seen. We feel it is without any legitimacy, any potential redeeming quality. It is an insult to everybody.”

We realize that the film has sparked an outrage, but like Senator Kerry said during the same meeting: “There is no room for taking of lives as a consequence of that. Certainly room to protest and to make voices heard but not at expense of human lives.”

^ ok plz tell them. i will one day make movie on holocast and show the public true story of holocast and show Hitler a great warrior. would they respond in the same way as they expect us to respond.

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

I have news for you sunshine, you can buy Mein Kampf and The Transfer Agreement and read to your heart's content. In case you're not familiar with those books, Mein Kampf is your boy Adolf's personal "Views on Jews" manual and The Transfer Agreement outlines how Zionist bankers basically sold out German Jews for Hitler's support of Israel. It's not written by some nut job, it was written by a Jew who also wrote about how IBM worked with the Nazis.

Or you can just go around killing people in the name of the Prophet, like so many of our enlightened brothers and sisters. That will show them all how we're a religion of peace.

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

yeh hoi na baat. usko quote to kar daity takay woh parh lay.

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

The problem is not with American government making the movie. Rather it is about your government refusing to ask YouTube and others to remove this movie, and to take action against the person who made it.

Re: Army called to protect diplomatic enclave

What are you talking about??

US govt did ask Youtube to remove it. And the person behind it was arrested, for violating his previous bail conditions.
