Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

Not exactly. According to contempory sources, largest representation in the standing army of nadir shah was of Afghans of abdali tribe, about 50 thousands. Among them 16 thousands were elite corps "the immortals" of which ahmad shah abdali was part of. Balochs had rather small representation, only 6 thousands. Mir baloch is saying that balochs "helped" nadir shah against ghilzai rulers of persia. He is forgetting that his balochs along with Afghans, bakhtiari, lur, uzbek, qizalbash and turkmen were paid soldiers of their king. Balochs were ruled by nadir shah, so were afghans and others. Now interesting fact is, nadir shah actually favoured recruitment of his ghilzai opponents. Even Ghilzais had infact larger representation than balochs. One of the top and senior general shah was a ghilzai, azad khan. Other generals were hussien khan qajar, karim khan zund, ali mardan khan etc who were native persians.

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

So Pathans and Baloch were like Bhaade ki sipahi (soldiers on rent) like Marathas :)

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

Marathas were professional looters before and after Shivaji :)

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

in the service of their king my foot! hummm can understand why only 6000 as its very difficult to convince baloch to be recruited in the army of king of another country and another reason for that is nadir shah couldn’t subdue the whole baloch nation ever during the time of nadir shah baloch were not even under the control of khan of kalat Mir Muhabbat Khan Ahmadzai Baloch, baloch consider the rule of Mir Muhbbat khan as illegitimate as he only had support of some baloch sardars not the majority of baloch sardars at all he was a weak ruler he came into power with the help of nadir shah and a tiny minority of baloch sardars that’s why baloch were rebellious through out his era and kept on revolting against nadir shah till the end of his era in 1747

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

Raiding and looting was considered pretty much legitimate in those times. This is how armies were funded. Some armies (like Vikings) were made up solely for raiding, looting and plundering.

We shouldn't really judge actions of generals at that time against norms of today.

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

Indeed, and I am not judging just stating

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

In 1739, Admiral Taqi Khan, commander of Nader Shah Afshar’s naval forces, invaded Gwadar balochistan on his way to Sindh. In search of provisions for his starving forces, he ventured into Kech balochistan where the Baloch forces, under the leadership of the ruler of Makran Mir Malik Dinar Baloch,** heavily defeated the Persians, and they were forced to withdraw from Gwadar Reference book (Lockhart, 1938).

**
**In 1739, Taqi Khan attempted, under orders from Nāder Shah, to make a combined land-and-sea expedition to Sind, to meet Nāder Shah himself there as he returned with his army from the conquest of Delhi. The expedition was a complete failure; the troops ran short of food and water in the Makrān desert and were harassed and defeated by local Baluchis. The meeting never happened, and Taqi Khan had to pull back to Bandar ʿAbbās iran (Gombroon Diary entries for October and November 1739; Floor, 1987, pp. 46-47)****. **:cb:

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

History is not that simply. Nadir shah invaded India because some of his ghilzai enemies had escaped to india and mughal emperor refused to hand them over. On his way back his army was harassed by Afridi pashtuns at khyber pass. Your sikhs on the other hand, made the record of being 100% rented when they served british :). Ika duka resistance tou kar laitay

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

lol What happened to you, why changing mood. You were just taking pride in the fact that balochs served Nadir shah afshar and went against ghilzai pashtuns as part of Nadir shah’s army. You were so excited to find baloch name in the list of ethnicities serving nadir shah that you not only posted screenshot here but also on other thread.

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

Let me share an interesting fact. Nadir shah ordered massacre of delhi-walas because they attacked and killed some of the soldiers of his favourite Afghan corps on street. The same mistake that was committed by persian citizens of isfahan when they attacked amir timur soldiers in the street.

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

As if they never killed innocent people all their lives.

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

???????????????????????????????????????????
But i just said that they killed unarmed delhi-walas

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

Sikhs resisted Pathans too during rule of Ranjeet Singh, Shah Shuja, grandson of Ahmed shah durrani was kept like caged animal by him. Sikh fought two war after Ranjeet singh, read about it, these are called Anglo-Sikh war.

Brits offered better oppertunity, one was honor of dishonring Mughals in 1857. Brit rule gave Punjab better irrigation system, raliways, postal system and what not

Khalsa and Pashtuns can never give such thing nor it can product much of intellectuals :)

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam

In that wars sikhs fought for their nation, their glories. @the_kaur pointed out that afghans and balochs were rented soldiers of persian. Yes some of them were but not 100% like her sikhs and gurkhas when they rented themeselves to british raj. They didnt fight for khalsa, they fought and died for farangi Queen. Yes some pashtuns also recruited in british indian army but they were notorious for desertions and were not reliable. Bulk of pakhtun nation resisted british raj from 1849 to 1947.

Re: Armour of Baloch Hero Chakar e Azam
