I’m in love with them and that’s not a good thing since they’re ridiculously expensive (for a broke student at least)!
I currently have very casual-looking one piece amira hijabs or plain shawl hijabs which might not be very appropriate for formal events. I have three research conferences coming up in April and I want a professional, elegant, modern look for those. Armine silk scarfs are just gorgeous (http://www.armine.com.tr/ ) but more expensive than what I’m used to paying for hijabs (their online shop sells one scarf for ~80 Turkey Lira which is around €35 and a USA retailer sells one at ~$60 which is around €42)… I’ve seen some other designer silk scarfs for $300+ :hehe: so the Armine ones aren’t so bad but I’m hardly going to pay €400+ for 10 silk scarfs (yes, I want to buy a nice collection, not just one scarf).
So… anywhere I can buy cheaper silk scarfs (not necessarily designer brands)? I’m sure you can buy them way cheaper in middle eastern countries?
^ Thank you! That's a more reasonable price for silk scarfs. The material isn't as impressive as the Armine ones but you get what you pay for. I'm browsing through them and perhaps will order some. Cheers!
You’re right Barbie, the armine ones are so gorgeous but are quite pricey. The tie rack ones are quite good. And the square ones look much better for professional/work wear but I can’t stand them personally. I’ve recently started buying from the main high-street shops, luckily they tend to do a lot more variety in the rectangular ones now. I bought a silk one from Pakistan for 500 Rupees two years ago but needless to say the quality was quite meh.LOL.
You iz lucky Ujalaa since you’re in the UK and I’m sure there’s a large variety of scarfs in many retail stores unlike Ireland. I previously bought hijabs from this trusted US seller at a good price (a dozen for ~$50, and I bought 3 sets) http://www.411hijabs.com/ but I’ve been wearing the same ones for like 3 years now hence looking for something new and more professional-looking.
You’re right, square silk scarfs are a pain to manage but they do look beautiful and I really want some for formal events. As for hijabs in Pakistan, I couldn’t find one place in Lahore that sold good quality scarfs. Anyhoo, thank you for the websites, if I can’t find anything that I like, I might have to go to Turkey myself to buy some

or chk ebay(put turkish hijab in search)
if u don't have pretty scarves u can use two plain scarves in contrasting colours and create a trendy look using some accesories. even a printed/sequenced/laced dupatta(not too long one though) from one of ur shalwar suits over amira hijab can look quite trendy if done the right way. there are some very good videos on u tube by mytrendyhijab 1, amenakin, makeupAdikt and hijabstyletv.
turkish hijabs are very slippery. i dunno how they keep them intact. for me even dozen pins n undercaps don't work
