Re: Armed group planning a “Draw Muhammad” contest outside Mosque
Ya read about it and channels like FOX and CNN are giving the contest a lot of coverage. I hope ICNA and ISNA official be in touch with authorities.
As rest of muslims should stay connected to their mosques and do their own job instead of running into these Fasadees.. You know, haters gonna hate but if there is no response they’ll finish themselves
Re: Armed group planning a “Draw Muhammad” contest outside Mosque
As an aside, a poster here mentioned CNN is a moderate channel. To me, it is Fox lite
How about them Moderates?
Re: Armed group planning a “Draw Muhammad” contest outside Mosque
I think its FOX-2.. nowhere a moderate channel.
MSNBC is moderate
Re: Armed group planning a “Draw Muhammad” contest outside Mosque
There is something to be said for shaming. Good people - regardless of Muslims Hindus Christians Atheists etc - should simply take pictures or shoot videos of this vile conduct. And post it on their Facebook or whatever social media of choice.
Naming and shaming works.
Re: Armed group planning a “Draw Muhammad” contest outside Mosque
Joe Scarborough and some other jokers are significantly right of center. Maddow and Hayes and Sharpton and couple others r left of center. Chuck Todd is a troll.
So yes. MSNBC is moderate. Though media labels them as extreme left.
Re: Armed group planning a “Draw Muhammad” contest outside Mosque
I would suggest they stay home… Armed bigots are not worth it.
Re: Armed group planning a “Draw Muhammad” contest outside Mosque
Maybe that’s the way to go. Don’t give them any publicity. Don’t react. They r looking for a reaction. Don’t give them what they want.
Ultimate dread for a wing nut is when nobody pays attention.
Re: Armed group planning a “Draw Muhammad” contest outside Mosque
Unfortunately there are some hot headed idiots out there on the Muslim side making threats as well. Some posted threats on twitter against this rally with all sorts of provocative nonsense.
The stupidity just goes full circle.
Re: Armed group planning a “Draw Muhammad” contest outside Mosque
I just hope that there isn’t any violent incident. Perhaps, the smaller number of people at evening prayers unlike Friday might avoid that?
There have been instances of idiots throwing pipe bombs. Perhaps, they threw them at less populated times to make a statement or maybe they were ignorant (betting on the latter), but what worries me here is there rhetoric that the second amendment is needed to protect the first amendment here.
The “f–k islam” leader is a former marine and while soldiers can have lots of control over themselves, a lot of the police who have killed “thugs” have been associated with the military which has looser rules for firefights and engagements compared to cops in theory. It hasn’t happened but I fear a situation that some rightwing or athiest troll (bill maher and sam harris do enough fear mongering) would shoot somebody that would ignite a huge problem for all of america.
Re: Armed group planning a “Draw Muhammad” contest outside Mosque
No you didn’t go there. Now I must invoke round roti.
Re: Armed group planning a “Draw Muhammad” contest outside Mosque
Not the roti again…

Here is what we can achieve by keeping patience and not retaliating in tense timing:
Arizona mosque, site of anti-Islam protest, holds ‘love not hate’ event

******An Arizona mosque where hundreds gathered last week for an anti-Islam demonstration, with counterprotesters shouting “Go home, Nazis,” was the site of a “love not hate” event on Monday to promote peace and inclusiveness, participants said.
The Islamic Community Center of Phoenix said it was hosting a gathering that includes a multi-faith prayer service and speakers to “show that when one of us is mistreated, our community responds with a message of Love and Not Hate.”
“We ask that you bring a FLOWER as a symbol of love and care,” the event organizers said on Facebook. “We are better together, and together we are strong.” (here)
Monday’s event, organized by more than 20 groups, comes four days after an anti-Muslim event held outside the mosque drew more than 200 protesters, some armed, who berated Islam and its Prophet Mohammed.]
The rally was held at the mosque in part because two Texas gunmen who opened fire outside an anti-Muslim event in Texas last month had worshipped there, rally organizer Jon Ritzheimer, an Iraq war veteran, said.
As that event unfolded, demonstrators on both sides screamed obscenities at each other as police in riot gear separated the two groups.
On Monday evening, about 200 participants filed into the mosque, some carrying roses, tulips and daisies.
“There’s been a lot of effort to divide the faith community and set us apart from one another and we want to demonstrate a strong message of togetherness,” Reverend Erin Tamayo, executive director of Arizona Faith Network, which helped to organize the event, said. “I am praying we don’t get any negative response.”
Among other co-sponsors of Monday’s were the Islamic Speakers Bureau of Arizona, Arizona Interfaith Movement and the Anti-Defamation League, according to the Facebookposting.

same day, muslims should draw anti-holocast images and see what happens with freedom of speech.
p.s: I condemn holocast.
Re: Armed group planning a “Draw Muhammad” contest outside Mosque
And this is the power of social media. Starts with people voicing their opinion in social media about bigots. Eventually good prevails.
If we all stuck to the notion discussing (or arguing as the case may be) with strangers is lame, evil triumphs over good.
For logic and common sense to prevail, the first step is to counter evil with logic. The same day the protest was going on, several non muslims gathered to protest the anti islamic bigotry. Quite probably the result of communication and coordination through social media.
We can choose to 5hink social media is for only banter. Or we can use it for good. Ain’t notn wrong with the latter approach.

There we go.. Peace wins.. Luv wins.. Haters lose ![]()
Kudos to the mosque’s management for handling this in the most perfect way.
I wish every muslim learns that they’ll reply all the offenses by exhibiting patience, luv and peace. It’ll all be good in the end inshallah. :k:
Re: Armed group planning a “Draw Muhammad” contest outside Mosque
Its interesting how fox news worded that headline: ‘Change of heart’. Our hearts are in Allah’s hands and He will turn them to hidayah when it pleases Him. As much as we would like to take credit for it, we can only lay claim to the steadfastness.
