!!!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

What are your comments on Armani makeup and Chanel? ?I saw a few girls wearing the make up and tey look flawless- but they had good skin to begin with- but I have bad flaky dry skin!

… I tried out MAC make up- but they have absolutely NOTHING for dry skin!

How are your experiences with these brands? which would you guys suggest for wedding makeup? And for DRY SKIN??

THANKS GUPPIES!

Re: !!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

The only thing I have heard about from the Armani cosmetics line is their highlighter and that’s about it. Chanel is known for making some of the best foundations out on the market right now and I know Pro Lumiere is a favorite of a lot of makeup artists as the best bridal/photography-friendly foundation.

But I really believe you dont need to buy ultra-high end to find a good foundation. I would suggest using a primer for dry skin. So basically after moisturizing (dont use a foam cleanser, use cream instead), tone (dont use a toner with alcohol in it or the kind you apply with a cotton pad as that could dry your skin out. Try MAC’s Fix+ or Evian facial mist (i would prefer the Evian one since the bottle is HUGE and it’s under $15) and lastly moisturize using a soothing non-greasy cream. If you’re in North America/UK, I can suggest you some good ones.

And then after all that, let your moisturizer settle in and apply a primer for dry skin. Most primers dry the skin out since they are to prevent oiliness but there are some targeted for dry skin. And then apply your appropriate foundation over it. I would suggest Make Up For Ever’s foundation, the one that comes with a pump and Revlon Colorstay is another one that isn’t expensive but is a favorite for a lot of people, often compared to NARS SheerGlow, which is another good one for dry skin.

And last but not least, since it is your wedding and you want the makeup to stay on yet at the same time not get cakey or too dry, set it using a makeup hold-spray targeted for dry skin. Most people use Fix+, Model in a Bottle and the most popular nowadays is Scandinavia spray (De-slick spray from Urban Decay is the same thing but Scandinavia packages it for Urban Decay with UD’s packaging). However, Urban Decay also makes one for dry skin so I would def. get this:
http://www.urbandecay.com/guardian-angel-spray-moisturizer/227,default,pd.html?start=7&cgid=4

So if you divide your money amongst a primer, a department/drugstore foundation as opposed to designer brands, and lastly use a good setting spray, you’re more likely to have better results and longevity as opposed to just using all that money on ONE product, foundation in this case.

Whoa, wrote an essay!

Just wanted to add, make sure you use gel/liquid products more so the powder doesnt dry your skin up or make it look flakey. I would use gel blush, gel/liquid concealer and use very finely milled setting powder. ELF makes a good HD powder which has the same ingredients as the Make Up For Ever HD powder for a fraction of the cost.

Re: !!!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

i like chanel blushes.

Re: !!!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

Chanel also makes the cream-based bronzer. But I really think with the right prep, you can pull off most forms of makeup, even powder. And don't forget to exfoliate to get rid of the flaky skin!

Re: !!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

my skin must be extra dry and rubbish than ever!¬!! I tried out your suggestions as a trial run- a primer made for dry skin, used a toner/fix spray and still looked flakey and cakey!!! And i broke out into a heap of spots! wohoo :frowning:

Any suggestions for a good primer for dry skin?? cus the one i got is rubbish :@:@!!

The Revlon colourstay is for combination and oily so that went rubbish for me :(- most of macs stuff is for combination oily:(

the nars sheerglow- i was tempted to buy it but i can get armani on discount at the price of nars (£30)- and i tried out the armani http://www.giorgioarmanibeauty.co.uk/_en/_gb/catalogue/MAKE_UP/product.aspx?prdcode=AP10103&tpcode=MAKE_UP_FACE_FOUNDATIONout on my hand and it felt LOVELY- but not on my face cus it was so so busy at selfridges! argh!!! maybe i shud go again and get a foundation trial on my face? but whats the point if i dont prep and prime properly right?

But i just have never heard of anyone use the armani one whereas nars is more popular…what a dilemma:S

I’ve learnt not to look at youtube vids for makeup cus theyre usually for oily skin sufferers! ah if only i was part of the majority!

anyone got a fix for dry skin???

anyone got a suggestions for foundation or other products made for super dry skin?

Re: !!!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

also this armani one is sheer cover- most foundations for dry skin= sheer, i was a full face coverage but again problem is cakey cracked look :( hellllp!!

Re: !!!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

I haven't used Armani make-up so can't say but Chanel is quite good.

Re: !!!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

out of the chanel range which is the best for dry skin?

Re: !!!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

I will be buying the Armani Designer Shaping Cream Foundation this week--> so I'll be giving an update for all those who are dry skin sufferers in need of a good foundation!!

I bought for everyday use Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Custom Face Perfector- I tried it out and it sits gr8!! i dont have old skin but this worked gr8 for my dry skin!!No flaky skin around my nose, no odd bumps between my brows!
It has a two sided sponge applicator for either full coverage or sheer- whichever you're in the mood for, I applied moisturiser and primer before hand and it sat perfectly for everyday use! Of course its cream, so it has a cream to powder transfer, it finishes matt and fantastically- it does not sit into creases or lines (the ones u get near the eye area etc.) !

Definitely recommended!!

i also heard mac also sale a fix+, which 1 do you think is better? the 1 from mac or UD

Re: !!!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

btw i heard good reviews from my friends about Armani foundation

(1) Armani Luminous silk foundation
(2) Lasting Silk UV SPF 34 Compact Foundation

Re: !!!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

I went to the MAC make up counter- and they did the studio sculpt foundation on me- which was* good since it's for combination skin* but again *cakey and I heard many girls break out because of it. *The MUA then added Mac + spray after and it did NOTHING to fix it... I didn't have a set or dewy look like most people say you get after, it just dulled the blush a bit- basically nothing fantastic for dry skin.

Plus if you check on youtube, all Mac + is, is a toner...hence why it feels refreshing but really does nothing, if u cleanse tone and moisturise there really is no need for it.

oh and the Armani luminous silk is for oily to normal skin types- not good for dry peoples!

Re: !!!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

can someone suggest a good concealor

Re: !!!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

sfm123, Your skin seems exactly like mine!! no mac foundation (and the fix plus) suits my dry skin! whatever i apply i just look cakey. i even got strobe cream but nothing seems to help i want to have a radiant glowy skin but foundation makes my skin look even uglier lol helppp!

Re: !!!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

I think the only way to get around it is to treat the skin!!! lol I've tried all sort of foundations and primers, and realised of course it's not going to sit well like those girls with amazing make, why? because they flawless hydrated skin to begin with!

So I decided to try multiple different things (since yesterday):

Long term hydration: Drinking more water- long term effects we all know will improve the skin! main point is hydration

For short term hydration: I started to lather my face in vaseline petroleum jelly mixed with vaseline intensive care body moisturiser since yesterday- i mix them so it would be less sticky on the face- omg has it made my skin so so soft!!! great for over night since your face drinks sooo much moisture during the night- and no need for expensive night creams or moisturisers! It even helped calm down the spot break out i had- be warned petroleum jelly by itself aggravated my spots by giving them more moisture- but mixing it with the moisturiser helped calm the down!- odd I know. And I know they say body moisturisers aren't made for your face, but for short term relief its working out well and i dont have the time to look for face moisturisers just yet!

**Natural face Masks: **Honey hydrates my skin quite well
and yogurt with oatmeal cleanses and cools the dry skin and spots
slices of tomato rubbed on my face treats the spots by naturally disinfecting them i think
potato skin peel to exfoliate cus i tried normal exfoliation and it made my skin break out into tiny bumps all over my face- this is a much better option!!

*Armani foundation results are in *(well sort of) My Sister ended up getting one before me, and she has pretty bad dry skin like me, but not as many spots. Her judgement is:

Positive: it does give her the flawless cover **she needs around the dry patches, and most importantly **DOES NOT CAKE like the Macs!! it gives her the look that she's not wearing anything on her face, feels light like she';s not wearing anything! It can be sheer build-able to full cover- so it's versatile!

Negative: It is pricey! It doesn't cover spots that well, so you need a good concealer- and the Armani concealer is not the best for dry skin (so now it's a hunt for good concealer for dry skin)

More updates when I try it out on my own bumpy dry spotty skin! lol :D

Another negative guys after the whole day- its worn off- so not long lasting, so not good for weddings where u dont have time for long retouches! But in all fairness there wasn't any application of finishing powder- and that is essential for long wearing foundations- but I can;t force my sister! lol

will be trying bare escentuals- apparently good for all kinds of skin including sensitive, acne prone and dry skin!ahhh! the search will go on!!

Re: !!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

I tried Armani’s Silk Liquid foundation today and it was nice but i still prefer the look i get with Vitalumiere Aqua by Chanel :k:.

Re: !!!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

I my opinion, MAC is the worst foundation brand for dry skin- stay away!

The Chanel VL aqua and the new compact version are very good. They are pricey but worth it. The compact version is more expensive but gives a beautiful smooth (not matte and not dewy) finish. The original VL aqua has a more dewy/sheer finish.

If you do visit a Chanel counter - do not get the perfection lemiere, it's very cakey and not good for dry skin.

Shade selection at Chanel is a bit naff.

Re: !!! Armani/ Chanel make up for bridal?

sfm123, do you have dry skin elsewhere on your body? Your skintype sounds like mine, and I have psoriasis, so I am generally dry all over. Windy days do a number on my face! My sister suggested I try argan oil treatment on my face at night. A few drops of pure argan oil on my face at night and by morning it’s pretty and dewy. Also, I think over in the UK neal’s (spelling?) yard does some really good night treatments that are supposed to be wonderful for moisturizing. Saw a review on a blog called Bubblegarm. they are expensive though!

Chanel Tan de Soleil is gorgeous, and one of my fave makeup artists here uses armani, here’s her review:
My New Skin: Armani’s Face Fabric Foundation SPF 12

I personally find bare escentuals to be wonderful for my skin, but it doesn’t cover spots as well. I’m starting to get sun spots on my skin since the past year, and I’ve noticed it doesn’t cover those. Just one thing with the brushes, if you have sensitive skin, they tend to irritate after buffing which is part of the application. I’ve had to switch to a different brush from sephora.
