The Israelis don't have it anymore, it got lost sacked when Jerusalem was sacked by the Babylonian in 586 BC. There is a church or monastery in Ethiopia that claims to have it, but the Christian sect responsible view it as being against their beliefs for anyone other than one priest to see it, etc etc so their claim cannot be verified.
It was alleged to have contained the tablets given to Hazrat Musa (saws). The Jews carried it around when they left Egypt.

I also heard that whoever carried the Ark of the Covenant in their posession, then they never lost a war?
