Re: Argue
I think debates are healthy… free flowing discussions that are spirited can expand ones point of view but the older I get the more I realize that it is a very rare case when someone changes their mind in an argument. Arguing tends to do the opposite; it further cements each persons stance on whatever issue they are arguing and it unilaterally closes people off from one another. Nowadays, I try not to take the bait unless it’s someone I know and can be sure won’t take the argument to be a personal attack. A discussion or debate ceases to be the second someone begins to feel personally attacked. I try and listen more than I argue (and I don’t always succeed at this.) I try to look critically at my own opinions… where they ultimately come from (my privileges, biases, prejudices, etc) and keep them in mind when someone is giving me their opinion. I find this is more of a useful approach than trying to vehemently argue my stance.

just one word.. Zabardast!! :k:
Re: Argue
I do not argue. I give my point of view and leave.
Re: Argue
No need to argue, because I’m always right anyway. ![]()
On a serious note, I like the answer from @FreshBakedPi but I do find myself getting into arguments every now and then. Especially when it comes to politics. Even though I know that nobody’s going to back down or change their opinion.
