Cant you get engaged n then when the older bro/sis get married you get married too? Or get nikkah done n rukhsati later, that way its not marriage in the minds of desi ppl but you ARE married and your parents are happy too.

But a lot of times i've noticed that big brothers won't get married until their little sisters are married off...lol, one of my guy cousins was actually getting tired of waiting for a rishta for his lil sis cos he was so eager to get married too! But i guess big brothers are supposed to be protective of their little sisters and therefore wait to start their new life, until they have "given away" their little sister...but i think this happens only if the bro and sis are close in age.
