areas to stay in NYC

have one of my cousins and his wife stopping over in NYC on their way to Chi-town. He had a few questions that I wanted to get newyorkers response to. I never stayed in hotels in NYC cuz I just got the train from Philly back the day..so here goes.

what areas should he be staying in to be in the center of the action, what hotels are recommended. what is the price range for a 3 star hotel etc.

$120/night and up. Try east side Metropolitan, Raddison, etc. NY as you know is pretty easy to get around. So it won't be much of an issue where exactly you stay, east or west as long as they ar ein midtown.

gracias, I tried to look up 3 star hotels on hotels.com, expedia etc, and they were all in $250/night range.

if u know of any hotels, or websites where good rates could be found, please let me know. They may be able to get some better prices thru lastminute.com or other such UK sites, but you probably know better.

Fraudz, try the Metropolitan or the Raddison as I mentioned. I have had relatives stay there on numerous occasins for $129-149 a night.

The Waldorf-Astoria :flower1:

^ small crockery i.e. chotay panday.
aray if it was for me I would be renting a condo at Trump Plaza, its for someone else.

sweetpie, he probably can afford waldorf, but he is already married, just thought i would let you know before hand :P

Thanks fraudz : This thread might come in handy.

Best Western on west 45th is a good choice.

However, you have to consider the fact that the only way you will get a reasonable rate, in the range of what Matsui quoted is by booking at least 2-3 weeks in advance. Last minute reservations will always cost more, regardless of the hotel.

If booked well in advance, best western rooms can be had for as little as $99-$109 a day for a double room.

OMG The Best Western is the same quality as Red Roof Inn :disgust:

Not in NYC. Best western locations in NYC are all 3 star locations.

Maybe youre talking about some southern state:)

The Americana Inn is a 2* relatively cheap place.

Madhanee’s basement, free minibar included. Adequately self sustained with all enmities. Nightly Kiraya: 2 Bottle aala Quality Scotch, and a meal in the my favorite Indian restaurant.

most of the chains are likely to be around the $150+ range. if they are willing to be a bit off and stay in Jersey City or right off the George Washington theres a lovely Hilton hotel there with I believe direct bus connections to down town. Otherwise cheaper hotels would mean upper manhattan which isnt worth it.
