This question is for guppies living in Pakistan or India. Are you thinking of immigrating to north America, UK, Australia or Gulf countires? What i your plan? What are your reasons for doing so?
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
DId you go and make and ID just for this purpose ?
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
No, but those of us who have moved would like to know how those who are back home feel.
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
Believe it or not: I'm thinking of moving to Pakistan at some point in the future.
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
Think about it carefully. A visit is not the same thing as living there. A Pakistani Doctor couple I know sold their practice, house and everything and moved to Lahore with their 2 kids. The kids couldn't hack it in Lahore although I am sure Lahore is a beautiful city. They returned back to Canada in 3 years. Exactly same thing with some folks who moved back to Delhi. You have been warned!
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
I think when people move from pak or india for the first time to west, they struggle but we don't hear as much about these folks going back similarly all they have to do when moving back to pak or india to go through that struggle phase and not give up.
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
I am going back very soon, hopefully. We have a business in Pak.
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
Thats usually only the case with people who have never lived outside *the West. *They don’t adapt to the enironment very well because its not as advanced as the West, and cultures & traditions & people are very different. Most of the people I’ve met who were born here in North America don’t want to live in Pak. But others, who have lived there and then moved away (to Europe or NA), tend to like the Pakistani environment, much more. Same with a few Indians I’ve met, who lived a major part of their life in India, want to move back. But that is just from my experience.
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
Wanting to move back dies as soon as kids are born here. They are not desis and don’t want to go back except for a visit. Sad but true. As you get older you start thinking of going back to retire. Not everyone can do that either.
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
Just so nobody makes the mistake of moving to Canada:
Read and think.
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
very informative! basically same stuff as what i had seen on tv report infrance about french people moving “en masse” to Québec province…but still they were some people who made it and had a “succes story”, but mostly entrpreneurs not emplyees…
thanx for sharing!
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
Hi me too planning to move back to Pakistan. the conditions we are facing in canada are worst and i believe that circumstances cannot be more killing in Pakistan as in Canada. I believe the situation for immigrants is not different any where in the world but this country where we migrated as legal immigrants we have been treated as illegal immigrants. We used to plan and struggle every way but majority of immigrants is running pennyless. I have been here since 14 August 2002 i migrated with 12000USD and now i have left with only 3000 and i have even worked as a labourer. I graduated accounting in Canada and me and three of my class fellows could even not get free internship and school reschedule our course(i am very much thankfull to the accountant in pakistan counslate who provided me internship in his office). The same stories w ere r epeated in www.notcanada.com
But i am not asking any body to never migrate.Every body has right to try the luck,i just want to warn them if they r ready to face all the hardships including joblessness and hunger then try and may they succed. The reality as some one also quoted in notcanada.com is that the persons who are settled(not even well settled)back home should not migrate this country of hunger and snow.
ALLAH BLESS all of us with patience and courage.
All my brothers think twice to migrate canada. This is not a dreamland.
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
^^
Are you a Canadian citizen? if yes consider moving to Uk for a short while. You will make a ton of money without living in a desert. PM me if you want more details.
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
UK itself is over crowded, u can make money but compare what u have to spend while u live in UK.
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
We already have. My daughter is pulling down $95 K Canadian in London and spends about half of that to live. Is that shabby?
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
I know a guy that lives in Canada, and he is a canadian citizen [pakistani]. Even he told me that Canada is not the place to be unless you have a well established base. He has lived in Canada most of his life so he was okay, however if a pakistani wants to move to a foreign western country, Canada might not be the best choice.
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
I would love to move back to Pakistan, we came when i was little and i know my parents and i really miss the life there... its hard in each place each country but nothing compares to the comfort of your own homeland. No im not dreaming.
Re: Are you thinking of leaving Pakistan or India
I dont know if u count 95K Canadian good while living in UK. I quitted my job when I was earning 60K GBP (thats around 120K Canadian) in 2001 and moved to live in Holland. I did have a cut back & went down to 52K GBP but quality of life increased more than 40% as compared to UK. I eventually started making more than 60K GBP within in a year when I moved to Holland but thats another story.
I dont usually advise people to move to UK, but again some people might feel it better to live in UK than anywhere else.
For me money is not everything, but was never a problem. Last year when I was in Canada I was on 112K Canadian (working with TD-Canada Trust), but my wife never liked Canada so I preferred to say "bye bye" to Canada even though I had an offer in hand from Scotia Bank for 135K Canadian.
Anyway, where to live is more like personal choice. I think Canada doesn't offer much to people when it comes to jobs. I have seen Pakistanis in Canada working labour jobs while having high qualifications. Canadians dont even accept USA Degree when it comes to Engineering field.
Now after working in several countries and having learnt the trade & tricks of the working environment of North America & Europe. I can advise our young generation, if u can make reasonable money in Pakistan, stay there. The salaries I have mentioned might look lucrative and tempting but not everyone gets them & even when you get them, u scarifice your family (parents & siblings), ur country, ur friends and much more. Keep in mind life outside pakistan is more like a robot, we do say we have a quality life but when u earn good money u work like a machine too. There are always pros & crons, so be ready for them if u are planning to move to a new place, no matter its North America, Europe or even Middle East.
