==Are you really Politically Correct in Real Life

Are you really more Politically Correct in Real Life then in GS or is it Vice versa??

Anonymity has its benefits??

Re: ==Are you really Politically Correct in Real Life

I seriously think that for most of the part, I am sensitive towards people on GS. Kidding aorund is one thing and hurting people's feeling is another ..

If I am not politically correct then I want to be

Say it like it is, say it like you mean it.

Re: ==Are you really Politically Correct in Real Life

I try my best to be.

Re: ==Are you really Politically Correct in Real Life

GS has way too many people who have a very thin skin. Plus with no body language or verbal cues to go with your opinion, choice of words is much more important. Result is that one has to be much more politically correct here, if you want to make your point. In real life I am much more honest and straight forward about my opinions.

Re: ==Are you really Politically Correct in Real Life

politically correct is a misnomer, Ask99.

what is political can also be unethical.
so being unethically correct is not correct, is it?

it is understanable that people have to be wise in social interaction with others, in an efort tobetter negotiate their own agends.
but it is not wise to be a two faced individual with cognitive dissonance i.e., doing something to please others and to fit in or benefit the collective acceptance ina group, while you actually do not believe in it.

people can have more integrity when they much rather be truthful and open, in sharing their beliefs instead of surprising at an odd time and losing their credibility.

this is the problem with secular thought that it revolves around constantly, with changing interests.

depends on what aspect of real life.
work, community, social circle, yaar dost..

at work I am a very politically correct and diplomatic person.

among yaar dost I am a total bayhooda insaan.. you know the drill, lofer lafanga awara badmash..not even close to being politically correct

I agree that because of the lack of other forms of communications one has to make sure that your views are taken as what you mean them to be.

One other factor that may make a person want to be more politically correct is trying to live upto the reputation. New members vs old members.I would think New members or new nicks that is have more flexibility to say it as it is without being politically correct.

Thats hat you do.Good for you.

Here or there:konfused:

You are right Dushi. What do you do in real life and GS?

It does make sense to be like that where work is concerned.
But seriously you say it as it is in friends, I bet you must have made a whole army of enemies:hmmm:

And for the list of names , ever thought of trademarking it , a shorter version like DLLAB etc etc etc:D

I dont look at it as I made a whole army of enemies but just that I am more quickly able to filter out ppl who I shouldnt be friends with.

as far as DLLAB goes,..drill is not part of the titles

Hahaha… :hehe:

Re: ==Are you really Politically Correct in Real Life

Ask99,
what do i do in real life? i work and live.

at GS i do what you do - post. :>

Could not have said it better than that.

All other replies are an attempt to be politically correct :p

Thats poitive thinking on your part...good for you!

and oops sorry for the inclusion of the drill part, Mr LLAB etc

it depends on what your definition of politically correct is. To me it is being sensitive to those around us and be mindful that our words, biases, and views may be offensive and hurtful to people and thus have a negative impact on the interactions or the purpose for which we are interacting to begin with.

being courteous, sensitive and thoughtful is not a problem, either from a secular or from a religious angle.

Re: ==Are you really Politically Correct in Real Life

NO
once an amreekan said "oh I am from america"
I said "its nothing you should be proud of"

Depends on who I am talking to and in what setting.

As far as friends and aquaintances are concerned...

For the most part I try not to hurt anyone's feelings on or offline. I try to be honest but I do so tactfully because like Faisal said..some ppl have thin skin. ....so is that considered being politically correct? if so then yes I am.

however, it really does depend on my relationship with the person and how close I am to them. It also depends once again on how sensitive they are. If they want an honest answer and can handle it...then i will give em an honest answer....sparing them the politcal correctness.

in a professional setting...it's a whole new ball game :D

It will not be "linguistically correct" to separate two words that construct one idea, analyze them with popular meanings and rejoin them to give a different meanings, politics is a culture of behavior and especially towards decision making, it can be either ethical or unethical, but when you add word “correct” to word “political”, you are actually and consciously trying to correct a presumptive incorrect.
So correcting unethical is ethically correct, is it?

Re: ==Are you really Politically Correct in Real Life

Ask99, no but I am the most politically correct person on GS. Thanks.

Re: ==Are you really Politically Correct in Real Life

Not at all!
