Re: Are you Liberal or Conservative Pakistani??
^ agreed - however, overall, one's veiws do fall one side or the other of center. One can have overwhelmingly liberal views, with one or two views that may be conservative.

Re: Are you Liberal or Conservative Pakistani??
Are we talking about liberal in terms of culture or religion? I think I'm okay in terms of culture, we've been raised pretty much without a lot of the crap that comes with culture. BUT my parents are pretty religious so we've been brought up in the same way, so in that respect we're quite conservative. But i think it depends what areas we're talking about - for example, we're quite a feminist lot so I would say it could be seen as liberal by some people, even if we dont define ourselves that way.
Re: Are you Liberal or Conservative Pakistani??
I am really curious -
Those Pakistanis who are conservatove and have say immigrated to US - do they also vote conservative - ie support Limbaugh, sean hannity et al and if immigrated to UK, support that conservative party there
To me that is the litmus test - are you consistent in your conservative views irrespective of which country you reside in.
OP - I am liberal.
Southie, conservatism is a relative term. US conservative philosophies are different than how they are in sub continent. Same goes for UK.
When you are labelling yourself to be a conservative in pakistan society, you might be labelled as extremist in states.

Seb, no question there are differences. Not sure if you meant extremist on the left or on the right.
IMO, a liberal from Pakistan/India probably votes liberal in UK, USA etc.
A minority in Pakistan/India probably votes liberal in their own country (since liberal views typically protect minorities).
There are folks who are conservatives in their country of birth (they probably belong to religious majority) bu would vote liberal in their immigrated country (UK/US) - since liberal again provides them better protection as a minority.
With that as context, I wonder if there are Pakistani/Indian conservatives who also vote conservative in UK/US - that is in support of Hannity, Limbaugh et al views.
One can be liberal and be religious - a liberal view just stands for equal rights/freedom for majority and minority alike
As an aside, most folks from KK forum strike me as overwhelmingly liberal.
