Are you guys have gone totally mad???

Now you have banned hiccup. If anything, she has always said the just thing. You’re telling me that you don’t want such a member participating on this site???

sigh saaray jahaaN ka dard hamaaray jigar maiN hay..

banning doesn't imply we want to permanently keep that member away.. isn't it always said that banned members can contact us to 'discuss' their banning.. that's like the beginning of a dialogue to enable their re-entry to the site.

I'm sorry for the grammatical mistake in the title. I meant no offense by it--it was sheer coincedence.

discuss what? something along the lines of "I'm sorry, won't happen again"? While you know very well it's bound to happen again. People don't change by bans. They actually get worse.

well it may come as a surprise to you but most returning members tend to be more tactical in their approach and that's all we ask.

This whole approach is wrong. You gotta at least talk to the person twice before putting a ban. That's like treating them bhaiR bakriyaaN kay ji khud hee ban ho kar seedhay ho jaaeiN gay. I can see where that mentality is coming from.

But let's focus on hiccupie here: You're telling me that she called someone a moron in response to someone who had said something derogatory about Indians???? I think hiccupie should actually be given an award.

She already had 20 warning points before the latest outburst. In that thread multiple participants got warning points, but there was only one who was on 20 points and thus got banned. Got it?

Points don't constitue "talking" to someone. Get it? This whole thing about points and banning is unidirectional. Members got nothing in the say. Haven't we seen enough examples of it already?

We are not baby-sitters here. No one gets banned on first offence. If they don't get the message the first two times, then on the third time, they need a break.

On the contrary, I think you're all baby sitters here. You baby sit to the ones who whine and get all hyped over everything that doesn't conform to their sense of interaction.

Some people are complaining that we are too strict.
Others are complaining equally vocally that we are not strict enough.
Make up yer minds!

Ya, that seems to be a toughie but I think it's you who needs to make up your mind. You try to please everyone mindlessly. You should look at cause and effect and should not just apply some sort of formula accross the board.

Everything is on a case-by-case basis. We don't have mathematical formulas to ban people or unban people. I see so many people getting worked up on couple of bannings. I don't see either those two contacting us or any of you offering rational agreed-upon solutions. Even in that racism thread in General, you can clearly see how people see the same thing in different ways. The Admins who award warning points use their best judgement. Its not fool proof, ofcourse, but if you have a better suggestion bring it forward.

ps. By the way, we hardly even try to please everyone. If you notice, we are an equal opportunity ban*nor*.

hehehe...

What do you call that point system if it's not a formula? As far as hiccup is concerned, her banned is not justifiable at all. Why should she contact admin? As far as madhanee is concerned, the reasons are unknown. Look, if you get quibbled over such things then you'll sure to over-work yourself and in the end it'll affect the atmosphere here. I say you open this feedback forum to all and let those object to one thing argue with those who oppose. You'll sure to get better ideas sometimes. Secondly, when people get to talk these things among themselves they tend to loosen up on issues as well. Kinda give and take on both sides. Also, a lot of time it's all about venting out. Once it's out then people tend to cool off.

The way you have it now is that everyone is running at you.

Bhei...when we didnt have a warning system the story used to be "Why wasnt I warned" or "Give me specific instances where I was warned"...now we have that.

And why shouldnt we apply one formula to everyone? Maybe the 'quality of the member' should be one of the factors. But how do you measure quality of the member?

Its just tracks warnings. The reason for warning is not based on any mathematics. Its all a judgement call.

Thats fine. If she is not interested in coming back, she obviously has no need to contact Admin.

Not only is the Feedback forum is open to members but, as you can see in your Racism thread and other threads in General, all members are free to add their 2 cents. We are all listening to see if you can come up with a soltution, e.g. to this racism debate.

By the way, cussing another member on the forum by posting gaali galoch has always been a no-no. You all know that. Its not the first time. So cut the "reasons are unknown" bit.
